SurgeX prices have catapulted to the stratosphere

So I didn't waste $500 on Surgex, is that what you trying to tell me my boi?
Bottom line from the article. Series mode surge suppressors offer certain benefits. The primary one is they don't wear out, and the secondary one is they don't work by dumping the incoming surge energy into the ground, which will raise the ground potential and make the ground noisy. Whether those benefits worth the ~10 X cost of the SurgeX, you'll have to decide for yourself. For me, I'd think the higher grade versions of the offerings by Furman or Tripp Lite are good enough.

but those "higher grade" versions from Furman and Tripplite are still MOV sacrificial technology.

You can buy Zerosurge for $325 which is more affordable than Surgex, you can also buy used, since serie mode protectors are not sacrificial, they can last many years, there is literally no reason to buy MOV for any components that are valuable, when you can buy a used series mode for $100 these days and chances are it will continue to work flawlessly for another 10 years

I chose Surgex because I wanted those 10 outlets on the same area, whereas other standalones usually only have 8 outlets, with one of those being in the front. Also, the other standalones are only serie mode, whereas the SurgeX is advanced series mode, which is another reason why SurgeX is more expensive.

Zerosurge offers an advanced series mode version by custom order, they don't sell it on their website and I think it costs around $500

The one I posted in the OP used to be $600-650 retail for years

Your call. Nothing last forever, me especially :p

How many surge protector posts does this OP need? Seems like a new one every six months.

What is the difference between series mode protection and advanced series mode protection?
