Saw this today:

€ 775 for two Purifi module in a full amplifier, albeit in one with a "self designed" power supply -- wow! Are the modules legit? The Purifi modules are currently retailing for € 329 including VAT in Europe, so it could be true that this amplifier contains two genuine modules, but I guess we can't know. We also don't know how the SMPS and the buffer board perform.

I would rather trust such an implementation. The differences should be immediately apparent ;)

Watch out for China copies - Modules from Purifi are all marked with a serial number - and we have a record of all we make and who they are shipped to!

If any of you are in doubt if a module is genuine you can write to [email protected] and ask if that serial number is real.

Unfortunately, the Chinese often fail to honor copyright and patent protections. Consequently I tend to look askance at stuff like this. Perhaps that's not right, but nations as well as individuals reap what they sow.

Beyond this being unethical as all get out, good luck getting something like this serviced if you encounter problems. I remember when I was building my DIY Purifi design, I was having trouble getting it to work (turns out the problem was with the Hypex Smps, not the Purifi Eval 1), but Purifi was right on it when I asked them to look at my unit to verify it was functional. They were helpful, and supportive when I most needed them. Don't for a moment believe some rip off outfit selling a cut rate patent infringed version of the Purifi 1ET400 will stand behind their "product" the way the very fine folks at Purifi do. Not a chance. Lot like buying a fake Rolex if you ask me. You'll get what you pay for--a piece of junk.
