I highly recommend Rick & Morty S08E07 "Ricker Than Fiction." It explains why modern movies are, for the most part, crap.

now the theatrical mix available on 4k six-track Dolby Stereo for flashback , i run the 1978 and nothing else that is cgi or ai those have no place here anymore , originals only !
It was indeed a good "popcorn movie", but i had expected much more, oh well.I am not going to the cinema often. Although as a movie fanatic, I watch almost every movie release at home in a nice setup. This was for me and my wife just a nice popcorn movie (sound and action) as mentioned earlier. We had fun. Up to the next.
There are a lot of great comic books outside the DC and Marvel universes. It would be nice to see those made into films (like walking dead etc.). Lots of material and it has been shown to work. Instead we get movies where every line is a nod to people heavily invested in the lore, rather than telling a compelling story.Yes, and there are many many absolutely GREAT comic books/ Graphic novels, turning them into great Live-action movies is the trick, but not impossible, as we had already more than a couple examples of such.
Spider-Man 2 (with Doc Ock) ; X2 ; Watchmen ; Iron Man (1st.) ; Captain America - The Winter Soldier.
Forgot a couple , Logan ; all 3 Deadpool movies
some more to add, Batman Trilogy , The batman, and (no Movie, but still) Daredevil (Netflix series)

Oh yeah, that interminable opening sequence, I was less than enchanted.1min 37sec when the superman " s " bursts whoosh on the screen i get super flashback goosebumps
I just saw it the other day and have to disagree. It was messy, bloated, and character development was rushed but it's worth a watch. The monkeys were just a cute throw away joke referencing the Infinite Monkey Theorem with a modern social media twist. Was it overly goofy yeah, but I think the tone made sense for this kind of superhero movie. In his earliest depictions Superman didn't even fly (able to leap tall buildings in a single bound). His powers have changed over the years. It's not compelling to watch a movie where the main character is completely impervious to damage there's no drama, danger, or stakes. The only thing that could beat him badly was totally believable within the context of the film (won't spoil it here). I thought Brosnahan played off of Coronswet really well. Guy Gardner has had that bowl cut in the comics since the 80s and super heroes can have bad personalities too, that's what James Gunn excels at writing. Sorry that you didn't enjoy it, but I'll take this over the dark depressing headache inducing Snyder version all day long.Watched Superman 2025 today. It has to be the worst version I have ever seen of Superman. It's possible the monkeys featured in the movie were used to hype it's rating on Rotten Tomatoes?
Why is it the worst?
Superman is the hero of hero's. The only thing that can stop him is Kryptonite.
In this silly movie, Superman is portrayed as a weak flying hero whose bones can be broken and he can easily lose fights.
In DC Comics and past movies: Nothing beats Superman, that's the entire character attraction. You can't x-ray him and find damaged body parts. In this film, Superman is continually being hurt and beat up. It's the dumbest depiction of Superman ever. Not to mention, the Justice League never shows up to help and the actress playing Lois totally fails to meet the part. You can't transplant Mrs Maisel into Lois Lane and expect it to be believable. Add Green Lantern's bizarre bowl haircut and personality and you start to see this movie as a slap in the face of anyone who grew up with Superman or Super hero's. The film also depicts Super Girl as a drunk just for the fun of it. It's a slap in the face to anyone who grew up with these characters.
I give this movie a "D" rating for totally DUMB.
There's a new generation of kids being born every day.How many times can they warm over this same, tired crap?

Good point. Back in '79, approaching strangers with a strong negative rant about a movie (let alone one based on comic books) would probably peg you as a religious nut or mental basket case, and it would be hard to say which."superman the movie never had this much hate in 1978 1979 , the new superman reboot had so much hate in less than 24hrs lol"
Which is understandable, back in '79 there was not internet (as far as i know)
I've gone around with some here and elsewhere over this stuff. Too many want to pic it apart and put out opinions on the quality of the writing, it's position on politically correctness, much more. Now for some reason it's normal for adults to have strong feelings about this stuff. Maybe just because we're accustomed to basket cases constantly bubbling up to the surface on this swamp of wretchedness we call social media.
I can't see going to a theater to watch any super hero movies after about the age of 12. I do watch some of them when/if they're streaming, and 19 out of 20 times, disappointed. Occasionally, pleasantly surprised. Soon as I saw super dog in the trailer, my expectations dropped considerably... The whole genre jumped the shark (70s reference!) a few years ago and now it's just sad to watch them throw good $ after bad.I wish they'd move on from the MCU/DCU stuff. I grew up with George Reeves doing Superman on tv....most are better than that, but it's still overdone in general. I can't imagine going to a theater to see the newest one.
Funny how we see things. I grew up with the original Superman TV series and loved it.I grew-up with the old Superman and Batman TV series'.
I haven't seen it either but the box office reviews are still a very strong 4 stars, near 8 of 10 Rotten TomatoesI haven't seen this film, but it sounds like Gunn did both. (Superman was traditionally described as a visitor, not an alien or immigrant.)
