Below a link to my in depth review of the low budget (€ 43,-) Superlux HD 330 PRO open over-ear headphone.
Of course it can be improved with some modifications for those that don't EQ.

It is quite similar to the Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO.
Not only in headband construction and in the grey pads but also in sound.

Below the response of the modified HD330PRO.

A bit ‘flatter’ but still retaining the ‘sound signature’ (full sound and detailed treble) but with good clarity.
Very enjoyable sound with good quality for a low price. Gives a few more expensive headphones a run for their money.

There's something to the Beyerdynamic aesthetic that deeply appeals to me, as I grew up with a DT 880 @600 ohm. For this nostalgia I now own a T1 1st Gen, even though I dislike it's very bright signature and use it with a ton of EQ.

Superlux is also a brand that were commonplace here in Brazil as an alternative to the much more expensive European and Japanese brands, with some of their models being recommended to this day.

Regarding this model, it seems they knew exactly what they were doing when mimicking the DT990. What surprises me is the distortion on bass, though:

At this high level, I expect it to change the timbre of the bass notes quite substantially, something that once I heard in my old DT880, I never could unhear :p.

EDIT: there seems to be a 150ohm model (gosh, they really went all in on copying Beyer, didn't they?). Do you know if there are any tangible differences?

I don't think there will be large differences so only asked for 32ohm.

I measured the closed version (DT660PRO) a few years ago. Drivers seem very similar.
Only noticed some slight differences in bass response.

I somehow find the Superlux 660 Pro (same chassis) extremely comfortable. More comfortable than the Beyerdynamic DT 770, 880 etc. Even though the pad materials feel cheaper, it suits big heads better.

Could be the lower clamping force of the Superluxes.

Sweet! Bought one a month ago for my lovely one to play e-piano and listen to seemingly endless meetings.
DT990 is my daily headphone, when I tried to compare to the 330pro I didn't think about switching off EQ (which is always on via Voicemeeter) and thought it sounds not that bad!
