Was not planning to go to rock concert by old timers, but some friends had extra tickets. Little did we know, they were floor tickets off to the left of the stage. We arrived a little late and Cheap Trick was already playing. Fortunately, an usher was handing out ear plugs, so quickly grabbed a few…
As we entered the arena, noticed the use of CBTs for the sound…
Had not seen Cheap Trick in years so hard to see how much they have aged. They played a nice set and sound was pretty good (harder to tell with ear plugs)…
The event was better attended than it seems here. Did get rained on a bit on and off but was no big deal. We thought Def Leppard was up next, but we were pleased to find it was Journey…
Had not heard the new lead singer (Pineda) live but he seemed to do well. He struggled a bit as appeared Schon’s guitar overpowered him at times though. Remembered when they found him and he looked so young, but not so much anymore as was sporting graying hair…
Schon clearly dyes his but did not matter as his riffs were still up to rocking the crowd…
Keyboardist Jonathan Cain also performed nicely and did a crowd pleaser as he sported a Cleveland Guardians jersey for part of the show…
Over 3 hours later, Def Leppard came thundering in. In anticipation, I moved to the back of the floor as they pumped chest pounding bass with a major light show. The bass was so overwhelming, it made it difficult to hear vocals…
The crowd was into it. Not big fans, we lasted 4 songs and left for home.
