Sumiko ‚Black Pearl‘, Alternatives?

Defects? Seems you’re completely missing the point of what that test is, and what it demonstrates.
Huh, again I'm missing a point "completely" whilst thinking I knew what I'm talking about. No explanation follows. I'm not taking offense.

With all needles the sound gets crackling at some hot sections. That crackling obscures, for me with my ears ..., the perception of the upper treble. If it was about the crackling as such, fair enough. No difference to speak of.

I've got my answers. The AT cartridges are good enough for me. Thank you, really!

(...) Conicals like even the 'sharp' DL103, (...)

Sorry to contradict, but the conical tip of the DL-103 is just 16.5 µm / 0.65 mil - so not really "sharp" for a conical.

And just btw - for those, who would like to try a nice, sharper one: A few vendors still offer the original VM3-5D, sporting a pretty nice, square-shanked 0.5 mil nudie, that fits onto all AT-VM3 & -VM8 as well as the AT10 to AT12 family bodies (except the AT12d and "the other"AT12E (*), of course).

Sorry to contradict, but ...
So you are one of the few who understand German, as it is used on the test record? It should remind you of an actor's school where desciples are asked to speak that strange words as to segregate them from their meaning. It is very hard to accept all that sizzeling sounds from your own voice  It makes you wonder, and you can hardly keep on: "Fischers Fritze frischt frische Fische ..."

All is nice and good. I've got my advice, and I'll keep on ...

Presumably yes, but I don't know that thingy.

P.S.: Oh, and it's "Fischers Fritz fischt frische Fische". We call that a Zungenbrecher.

At least you know how hard it is even for diamonds, the Zungenbrecher. Let White Dwarfs rain down on earth!

I understand that! TongueBreaker
It has some irony to it, that tounge breakers are used to (un)check the capabilities of pickups.

Your example shows at least bearable results, and so a difference is confirmed. I asked the record company for some further info, maybe they respond.

My finishing conclusion is, that vinyl cannot be considered a competent medium anymore. But it was once, and my record collection must not fall into oblivion. It has some rarities, I won't digitize. I still think that would not be nice.

On pickups in general I have to say, that it was an astounding hype back in their day. In sober hindsight we have the opportunity to learn from that. Especially when chosing another one today.

i think vinyl have a decent SQ ... is what i listened everytime.
i mean, the medium doesn't have the numbers in distortion / SNR / blah blah you can reach with digital, no way, but in the "acoustical analogic world" (what you finally have in your ears) ... is decent, very decent.

recordings doesn't have 90dB of SNR, digital masters with high compression, skyrocketed gains, etc etc

So, i repeat before someone begins with "but vinyl is inferior, you're a dumb, blah blah" ... vinyl is VERY DECENT, and for those who likes the lp ritual, adds many things to the listening experience. Nothing more, nothing less. Is not about being dumb / smart, is all about the way you experience music listening.
