Cheers for the info, Jaycar told me the opposite and another company said the same as you but I went with a diffrent amp anyway.I have one of those Digitech AA-0520 amplifiers and it seems like the line out is "fixed", i.e. will not change level by using the volume control on the amplifier itself.
It will follow the source.
Of course you could easily take several resistors and wire up a low level pad from the speaker terminals to the line out RCA, or if the RCA is soldered to a board, buy the RCA terminals, drill some holes and put that in the back of the amp.
Non destructive method is to create that whole assembly outside the amplifier and create a cable out of it.
I have a preamp on the way and should have a sub in the later half of next month as well if all goes to plan.
