Hi,

Has anyone heard Dynaudio Sub6/18S vs KEF KC62/KC92 in the same system/room.

My current HiFi and AV setup share the same front loudspeakers Dynaudio Contour 20
The room is about 35 m2

HiFi setup
MiniDSP XLR -> Emotiva XPA3 -> Contour 20

Plan to use MiniDSP XLR3 for the Sub

AV Setup
Denon AVR X3600H pre out-> Emotiva XPA3 power amp-> Contour 20 + Center
AVR also drives the surround channels

Plan to use AVR LFE out for the Sub

I'm listening to
80% music:
Mahler, Richard Strauss, Beethoven, Bach and also Kraftwerk, Draft punk, etc
in both stereo and multichannel format

20% movie

My questions as follow
1. Regardless which SUB i get, i'm assuming i should use the MiniDSP Dirac/EQ and the Denon Audessy for the Subwoofer bass management instead of using the SUB's inbuilt preset/EQ/DSP?

2. Has anyone heard these SUBs under the same setup/room?
My current 1st target is Dynaudio 18S, as Sub 6 does not offer me anything extra but costs more. They both support connecting to two seperate sources as above.
KEF KC62/KC92 does not support connecting to 2 sources, i'll need to add a switcher, which complicates the system, plus i may forget to switch it to the correct source...: ) but from the design and spec wise, the KC62/KC92 seems even better than the Dynaudio pair.

It does if they are both single-ended (RCA).
I actually emailed KEF support and this is what i got from them:

"To get the full benefit of SmartConnect, we would recommend NOT connecting to multiple source equipment. When using a single cable, the subwoofer will be turning the volume down to match the previous levels you were experiencing, as the input gain will now be increased. This in turn means reducing the workload of the amplifier, making for a more dynamic, and possibly higher output performance.

The subwoofer is expecting stereo when both signals are connected. By default, the subwoofer is expecting a stereo signal. If only one cable is connected, then the volume out of the subwoofer will be reduced (1 signal vs 2 signals). So SmartConnect, when one cable is detected, boosts the gain to match when two cables are connected. By having two cables plugged in, the subwoofer will always think its stereo, and that it does not need to change anything.
"

"As the subwoofer will be confused of the signals it received. By connecting both ports of LINE INPUT (i.e. SmartConnect and LFE), the subwoofer will expect stereo signal. While you are connecting to 2 different sources, it will cause that KC62 is not outputting as you expected."
