Right now I have a Rhythmik L12 that fills in the lower end okay but I would like something with more output. I considered simply adding another one but when I consider the same output doubled I keep thinking I would want more than 2 would offer. Ive looked at the 1723 1S and 2S by Arendal, and maybe I am over thinking it but when I consider ported designs I always think I will lose clarity and detail in the bass, also the ported designs are pretty big. Am I over thinking this? I keep wondering if I am and I wonder the value of buying sealed subs that dont get down real low with the S7T which have good low end output... with proper set up the envelope of a sealed sub's duty would be kind of small for a hefty chunk of cash. Of course I have checked out the R212 and D212 by Perlisten, but I would really love to fill the low end out without having to spend a minimum of 11k. The R210 model is only 500 less than the R212, which doesnt make the most sense, honestly. I would love it if they were 3 to 3.5k. If anyone has some suggestions for bang for the buck when it comes to SPL and clarity/detail are not sacrificed too much I would appreciate such suggestions.

I couldn't find the max SPL specs of the L12, but the Neumann KH870 manages close to 117 dB, as the S7T. But also pricey if you need 2.

For subs you might want to look into their low end extension, SPL and distortion. If you know what are your preferences, you will get to the range of subs that will work for you. Generally, the higher these measurements are, the higher the price. E.g. whatever goes below 20hz at usable SPL will not be cheap.

Then there is also the pressurising the room effect which in larger rooms might require more subs. More subs will also smooth the frequency response unless you are lucky to have a single perfect spot in the room where you would not need this (perhaps with some EQ help). And what "pressurising" really means is also individual. I ended up with 4 subs in 6,000 cft room

Sealed vs ported has been long discussed. At the end it does come to preference. Ported will generally have higher output and extension vs "comparable" sealed, but sealed might get huge help from room placement as well.

Arendals 2S and 2V models are great. A bit cheaper from SVS could be 4000 series with single drivers. And then Rhythmic HSU and other American manufacturers could provide greater value.

@4D_Coaxial_Cube And the perlisten R12S subs?
Sealed subs in a small room extends deeper, flat to 10 hz with roomgain.
The Arendal 1723 1s and 2s are also good subwoofers or the svs sb4000. @20hz the sb4000 and 2s have almost the same spl.
Arendal s2 has more midbase then the sb4000
The rel predator ht 1510 is better for detail and clarity but i think less spl @20 hz.
