Hi everyone,

I recently bought a pair of Vanatoo T1E+ speakers for my desktop, but their bass isn’t particularly loud or impressive. They have built in crossover so I can use their sub out to add an subwoofer.

They are in a medium sized bedroom. 15x12 ft or so. I live in a apartment community, its single floor and well isolated.

I would like to find a smaller punchy and accurate subwoofer that would make sense for these. Ideally the subwoofer wouldn’t get the cops called on me, but also needs to keep up with the Vanatoos at occasionally higher volumes.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. I would like to keep it under $400 if thats reasonable.

Edit - I am considering the Kali Audio WS-6.2, if anyone has opinions or experience with it.

I don’t have much help on what sub to get. But I just wanted to say if you can get away with a sub on the Vanatoo, do it. They sound so much better with a sub. I’d give them a 7 out of ten with no sub and a 9/10 with one. Everything “cleans up” a ton and the volume possibility goes way up. I’m sure you know this but not only is there a crossover for the sub, but the EQ curve for the speaker changes as well. I only have T1Es, trying to convince myself to order the Pluses, but can’t justify it these days since I only use these for music and don’t get to listen as often as I like. I don’t normally run a sub, but I hide an old Polk PSW650 in the closet and bring it out when the SO isn’t around. The speakers definitely integrate well with this sub. It’s dual 10s in an 18.5” cube with a 250w amp in a ported box. It definitely doesn’t overpower the Vanatoo. The -3b low point is 28hz according to the specs. I’ve read that this freq response is inflated and more realistically closer to 40Hz. all this to say, the PSW650 seems to have about the right amount of output for the T1Es.

I ended up with the Kali WS.6-2. It is impressive for its size, and is very punchy and natural sounding. I have the Vanatoo set to crossover at 125hz, giving the sub as much as possible, with the T1 set to shelfed DSP but I did unlock them to be louder. For a desk setup, its pretty killer. I do find myself EQing +.75-1.00db with low Q in the 4 kHz region, as I find them slightly dark in the midrange. Also +1 at 9 kHz for some more “air” in top end. These little things are impressive for the price. My old speakers “Swan M200 MKiii” started buzzing, and there was no reply from their support, that was a big factor in deciding to go with Vanatoo since I hear they have good support.
