Subwoofer for Elac Connex (Unusual Issue)

Hello,

I recently purchased the Elac Connex speakers—they sound great, but I wanted to enhance the low frequencies with a subwoofer. I got the SVS SB-1000, but it plays very weakly, maybe at only 1/4 of the expected volume. It seems there might be an issue, even though the speakers have a dedicated Sub Out output.

I found a post on a forum where someone managed to get it working, but from what I can see, this issue is quite common with various subwoofers that struggle to integrate properly.

Here's a similar case with the same setup:
Does anyone have the possibility to test or recommend a comparable subwoofer—for both music and movies—that would be compatible with these speakers? The room is about 12m².

Best regards!

Do you mean that others with these Connex speakers are experiencing similar issues across different subwoofer models, or are you referring to people having issues with integrating subwoofers in general?

Assuming you mean the former, it sounds like the Connex might not be putting out enough voltage on the subwoofer out. It's sort of bizarre, as there don't appear to be any controls for bass management. So how does it decide whether to output via the subwoofer out and what frequency to use as a crossover?

I do notice there's a USB port labelled "update only". Have you or anyone else you've seen with the issue contacted Elac to see if they can reproduce the issue? Perhaps the speaker needs a firmware update.

Thanks for your response. It's the first case – they are having trouble getting the subwoofer to work properly with these specific speakers. Unfortunately, I haven't found out anything about the update yet. Maybe someone else will chime in, and we’ll find a solution.

Following this one since these speakers are on my very short list for my desktop set up. This, however may be a deal breaker.
