I've bought a use BK XLS200 MKII subwoofer, which comes with a high-level Speakon cable. I want to connect it to my Cambridge Audio CXA60 and use my Hfiberry DAC+DSP for room correction but would a high-level connection then be the best way to do this? The amp has a sub out (with an output filter at 3kHz) and pre out too and I would have thought (newbie that I am) that you connect a sub to a sub out, but as the sub comes with a Speakon cable I'm a bit confused.

What would the advice here be?

It depends on how you want to use the HiFiBerry? Can you explain your connections and sources? I would probably use the analog output of the HiFiBerry for the sub, and let the digital output go to the CXA60, and use the integrated as a digitally controlled power amp. You then control the volume via the HiFiBerry. This will give full control over both sub and speaker channels. If you find the scary or need the other sources and want to these the CXA60 as a volume control, it's better to use the sub-out, and filter the sub on the sub itself, and just use the HiFiBerry for global EQ. You can then also use the other sources without EQ.

At the moment I've got a cd-player and a WIIM Mini connected to the Hifiberry, which is then connected to the CXA, all via optical because the DAC in the CXA is supposedly better than the one in the Hifiberry. I want to use the DSP possibilities of the Hifiberry to do the EQ work, if using DSP would be a good idea.
