Done.
1. Price for HSU subs now includes shipping cost.
2. Added notes for each HSU sub...something like "Price includes US$90 shipping"

Thanks for all that crazy work on warranty. Given the complexity of the warranty situation between vendors it seems that the data will be valuable (i.e., every warranty is not the same and cannot be assumed).

I just remembered that Monoprice had a sealed version of their Monolith subs...

But, like most mfg, they remove the link from their main page after discontinuing a subwoofer.

Well, after a bit of google-fi, here they are:

Monolith M10-S
Monolith M12-S
Monolith M15-S

Since Monoprice is nice enough to list the CEA-2010-A data, I've added it to the my spreadsheet. :D

Anyone have thoughts/insights into why they discontinued the sealed subs, but kept the ported versions?
Is it because the ported versions (when you plug the port with a foam plug) gives you basically the same performance as the actual sealed sub?

Those were a fairly recent arrival....maybe there was little demand or supply line changed?

This may be the best real subwoofer at this cost (according to SVS anyway, and the FR looks great).

Quite the value for a 12-inch subwoofer (the SB-1000 Pro is just $500).

The SB-1000 Pro does look to be the more attractive option, imo. Do the added 100€ of the PB-1000 Pro only come from extra material costs?
For the price difference you do get lower extension, but since the Sealed version is not lagging far behind I prefer it due to its more compact size.

Maybe, but they have some work to do to catch up to the Monoprice 10" THX, which has honestly surprising 20-30hz performance for its size and price. It consistently comes up at the top for subwoofers under 4cuft at ANY price, too, which was even more surprising to me.

They obviously accomplished this by tuning for low-end at the expense of 40-80hz performance, but to me this makes more sense than having +5dB up higher. At least for home theatre subs.

Does anybody know what the expected frequency response will be if I made a DIY sealed subwoofer with oak plywood using a Dayton Audio UM12 servo inside the recommended 2 cubic foot enclosure?

Data-bass measured the Dayton Audio UM18-22, so you extrapolate the performance from that drive unit.

It was all about demand. The sealed just didn't sell in enough numbers to keep around. I assume it's because you can make our ported subwoofers sealed by using the port plugs, and no one really cared enough that the sealed subwoofers were smaller.

Vituixed, half-space, 1M. It's within 1dB of Xmax below 25Hz and approaching max wattage above 100Hz. Pushing the full 930cc Vd in 56L will add a little distortion, because the air spring's not linear. A bigger box would reduce that distortion and allow a smaller amp, but this is a LOT of sub in 2 cubic feet.

Consider the slightly cheaper RSS315HF-4 or HFA as well. The RSS models have less Vd, but the 315 hits within 1-2dB of the UM12. In addition, it needs a smaller amp, offers a bit less THD, & is happy in a smaller box. If I were building 2+ subs, I'd take the RSS for sure.

Which is the best performing sealed sub which falls in extreme category?
In general I like sealed sub for music than ported.

Went through my previously compiled "Master list of Speaker Companies" (966 companies in total ) and added over 100+ subwoofer companies.

Latest statistics:
263 manufacturers (unique), 1550 models (all, non-unique), 1400 models (unique), 279 models with CEA-2010-A data (all, non-unique).

Another insight that we can make...
Of all speaker companies (that I know of), 27% of them also make subwoofers.

Thank you so much for all the work you do, sweetchaos! I have found your subwoofer list very useful.

Arendal claim to make the best subwoofers for music. The 1723 subwoofer 2s is the one to go for if you have room and are affluent.
