Subwoofer Comparison

I'm thinking about adding a third SW to my system as I already have Dirac ART and I could benefit from it. At the moment I own 2 SVS SB-3000, which a great, but I would like to try go bigger. My room is open space and pretty big, so 15 inch should be an improvement. I usually listen at 75db, sometimes 80 db. What brand is considered the best value in Europe? I would love to get Rythmik sub, but it's not available in EU. I got my SB-3000 for a great value, ~1350 Eur, but beefier SVS subs are pretty expensive. What are my choices?
Arendal 1723 2s subs are very good, around 5 db more output @20 hz then a sb3000 has.

It's 2500 Eur, quite steep as well, compared to Rythmik prices. Have anybody tried importing it these days?

No ported subs probably right?
Preferably. I still have to convince my wife to use 3rd sub, if she will see how ported looks like, I will have to move to another house :D

Subs in general are expensive in Europe.

In the US, SVS is just ok value.
In the EU, it's pretty good.

I contacted Rythmik and PSA and both companies can ship to Europe. I will probably pull a trigger and will order from them. I guess the price will be a deciding factor, but if you would get to choose, would you go for Rythmik E15 or PSA S1512M?

Both are good subs. The Rythmik is about 30 pounds heavier.

My B&W PV1 subwoofer is broken and it will cost more than it's value to get repaired.
I currently pair it with old B&W 800-series speakers (very old from 2010),and would like to buy another one with good appearance (the reason why we had PV1).
Any suggestion?

Any downside to using a subwoofer to crossover HPF as seen in RSL 12S manual for example? Is there any difference between this, and a dedicated 2.1 preamp with a subwoofer out?

Another potential option is the Hsu ULS15 (provided they ship to where you are, of course). Among the ID company's, Hsu is often the price leader of the bunch. The products they sell are both inexpensive and good.

I don't think they are available in Europe?

They can probably ship to Europe as well. When I asked about shipping to Japan last year, the UPS shipping cost for a VTF-3 MK5 HP was 600 USD.

I guess one downside compared to fancier options is you can’t pick what filter slopes to use (eg how quickly the crossover occurs).

Depends on the 2.1 preamp....some have just a sub pre-out, maybe with a low pass applied, often without any highpass option at all. Let alone an adjustable high pass like this sub offers.

I run my 12S just like that, with the sub handling the crossover between the preamp and power amps. Works really well, although I would prefer a preamp with actual bass management. The downside is needing two sets of long interconnects and having a lot of low level signals running all over the place. Lots of ways to pick up noise and interference.

When using balanced connection, optionally with starquad configured cable, this should not be an issue.

Does Kali Audio WS-12 V2 make sense if I want it to sit under the desk where I work? In a room that is 4x4.5m (18m2). I have enough space under the desk or beside it.
I missed Kali Audio WS 6.2, which was selling for a great price earlier this year, but now it got a 200 euro price hike. But there are 2 shops which sell WS-12 V2 for a good price, and one of them even has a sale on top of it. WS 6.2 costs 610 euros (710 usd), and WS-12 V2 is only 20 euros more.
Sounds like a good deal, but I don't want to buy something impractical. It looks like something that could be used for a gig, lol.

For 20 euros more I'd opt for the WS-12. I've not seen any reviews of the V2, but the original is solid. One of the better sources of info on the WS-12 is actually on this forum, take a look at this thread (it also covers some practical changes with the V2):
