My 2 channel Yamaha s801 has no sub management. Sends full signal to my Polk r200’s. Tough to get my SVS 1000 pro sub tuned and maximize analog sound in a smaller listening room.

I have tried both ways , and can’t decide which is better:

1. Turntable phono stage and sub to WiiM, WiiM sub management and room fit, 80db HPF to Yamaha. Kills analog path. Sounds less warm to me.

2. Turntable and sub to Yamaha, accept full range signal and retain analog path even with SVS DSP tuning . Some bass boominess and maybe port chaffing an higher volumes,

Welcome to ASR.

"Killing the analog path" is not going to degrade the sound and you get the benefit of a proper crossover for the sub and DSP when using the WiiM which can be very helpful. If you don't like the sound (mentioning "less warm" on this site won't get you far as there is no agreed upon definition of what it means) you can use DSP to fine tune the frequency response to your liking.

The best route is to get a measurement microphone and free software like REW and use it to measure how your system is playing in your room and make adjustments based on measurements.

In any case enjoy and have fun.

I do have a measurement mic and have used it to try and dial in the low frequencies using roomfit, house curve and rew. I have tried tuning for Harmon, BK and flat results. Haven’t been pleased with any yet. Keep going back to my full range output and trying to dial down my SVS bass response and use room gain compensation .

Either way I have gone I still feel like a comprise is being made! It’s honestly a tad frustrating.

I notice my WiiM Ultra in my office system was recommending sub delays that did not make sense for a small room like +15ms. I ended up connecting a laptop via SMSL PO100 and running REW sweeps with different delays. I settled on +6ms for smoothest summation around crossover. I was curious about the discrepancy and got word back from WiiM Staff on their forums that WiiM Subwoofer sync is calibrating for arrival time of subwoofer and speaker at listening position. This may or may not coincide with smoothest combined response at crossover frequencies.

Get a calibrated microphone and connect your laptop and start measuring.

How long ago was that? They are developing their DSP rapidly. It still has a ways to go.

Within last two days. Don't get me wrong I think it is incredible they even allow adjusting of delays for subs and speaker pair as well as phase, polarity, EQ, level.
