Looking at perhaps adding a sub to my Warfedale Linton Heritage 85s.

My chain:

WiiM Ultra -> NCx500 monoblocks -> Warfedale Lintons

My thought would be to add the sub to the Sub-Out port on the WiiM. I don’t believe the WiiM supports dual sub operation, but I may be wrong… Would you have a recommendation(s)?

Thanks so much…

You can attach multiple subs to the WiiM's Sub out port, but they'd all receive an identical signal, so it'd be difficult to optimize the response of each sub individually.

One solution is to use a subwoofer with built-in DSP, like for example SVS' Pro line.

For subwoofer recommendations, check out this gigantic spreadsheet by sweetchaos:

You can create a new filter view, then sort by SPL at 30Hz or something to see which sub can play how loud while staying clean.

There are many more attributes of subwoofer playback (see the thread below), but CTA-2010 SPL data is the most important, IMO.

Thank you very much! Great information.

I was already looking at the SVS SB-1000 Pro Sealed as possible candidates.

Unfortunately, with my room, it’s unlikely I’d be able to support 2 subs. To be frank, even one is a stretch. My room isn’t very large. I’m hitting 90 db at my listening perch with my WiiM at 45% volume if that gives you an idea. I think 2 subs would blow me out of the room, even if I could somehow find the space to fit them. Trust me, the thought of only one propels my OCD into overdrive… They’re only 13x13x14 (basically). If only I could fit them within the Lintons’ speaker stands. That’d be cool…

even almost “full range” speakers like the Lintons would improve their experience by adding 1 or two subs.
Extreme room gain is an usual handicap for little rooms, but all untreated rooms suffer from SBIR which is also inevitable for stereo layouts. And subs could reduce SBIR.
In all the cases you should buy a microphone, install REW and analyze your room.

I have a SB-2000 and I’m thinking of buying a second unit.
