For anyone who has used the speaker passthrough on a subwoofer, how did you accurately level match? That is, if I connect line out on my source to line in on my sub, then line out on my sub to line in on my amp. Maybe a built in crossover, maybe not.

Typically, you level match sub and mains using a measurement microphone.

UMIK-1 is the go-to option but a Micbooster EM258 works well, too.

In the absence of any microphone, setting levels by ear/taste is fine as well.

It's not like there's one specific, scientifically correct subwoofer level.

Thanks, I do have a UMIK1 but I'm not sure how to use it in this scenario. Play a test tone and simply match output level, then apply my target curve? What if the sub and amp have significantly different input sensitivity?

Perhaps play only the first sub first and set certain level. Then turn down its output to zero and set the level of second sub to match first at MLP. If only level matching then above should be work.

Is this just for music or movies as well?

I've been doing research about integrating multiple subwoofers and my understanding is that for movies, the device you use and whether there is downmixing to stereo involved matters and I would check how the device is downmixing lfe into stereo etc.

Sub passthrough typically has a gain of 1 and is not variable. So the only variable is the sub volume control which only controls the sub bass. You could use REW but some folks do it by ear and others use an SPL meter.
