Streamer not made in China

I was just pointing out that some (probably most) folks have non-nefarious reasons for wanting
Nobody said anything about nefariousness, and "why?" is a fair question. The defensiveness and evasiveness of the responses to that question surprise me, tbh.

"Why not?" is a surprising question. The answers are obvious, but I'll spell some out:
1. Almost everything is made in China so avoiding Chinese stuff is inconvenient
2. Lots of great stuff is made in China so avoiding Chinese stuff narrows the pool of good stuff
3. Lots of Chinese-made stuff has good price/quality ratio so avoiding Chinese stuff often means paying more for less

The responses are because usually the query is because the person asking thinks that the person with the request is a "whatever it is that the person asking "Why" about is thinking".
& then it turns into a "He said & the other one said" type of nincompoop argument that goes nowhere but pisses all the participants off.
The type of argument that we, on this site, have agreed to not get involved in on this site.
There, I spelled it out for you and others, too.
I hope while being concise but not harsh.

Ah, I see. You are making cynical assumptions instead of engaging in good faith.

Based on vast experience over 68 years of living in (or just having been in some others [including China]) in many nations, in many parts of the world.
Maybe, it would come across as more nuanced in person, but that is not easy to see with a one word question in print.
If the questioned was explained a bit, it would have helped.
So, based on my experiences, 90+% of the time, a "why" on many things, without further explanation, is a not out of genuine curiosity.
& my typical response will be "Why do you want to know "why"?
As you indicate, it COULD have a reasonable explanation behind it. But in my experience, that would be quite unusual.
But the answer I would give is simple: because that is what I want & it is my money and I will spend it on what I want. That is why.

Well if it whose more than music streaming like main router I could think of a cuple valid reasons (open source with good support in Intel/Broadcom flavour) but in this case is how much desired services are available and how stubborn company is regarding keeping it alive. I can comment only from engineering stand point and to a point price. Fun part is there is no good interface on any streamer (Musicast, Sonos, WiiM are look alike and for from modern or particularly appealing and that's about 90% of market as it is, rest is worse) & that comes from a guy who gave up on it (except locally) almost entirely.

I asked "Why" because I was genuinely interested and I wanted to give a good advice, but to do it, I needed more information.
People often disregard Chinese equipment based on wrong assumption that their quality are not good. In a view of that, I have very positive experience with Chinese equipment (of course, I have knowledge what to choose, not the suspiciously cheap stuff) so I would advise that there is no logic spending more than necessary, in spite of fact that they are your money and you can spend them on what you want.
Of course, this is my own assumption what OP is thinking and maybe I am wrong, maybe OP has something very different on his mind, hence my logical and legit question "Why"?

When my wife told me that "if it is made in China & it is not made out of silk, it's quality is suspect", I looked at her and said "You are made in China." She slapped me.

But in this case it's not--it's someone else's thread, the question was posed to @xkhjkdwq (the actual OP asking the question about spending his or her own money), and you jumped in to defend against an imaginary attack you'd played out in your head based on your own cynical assumptions. Honestly baffling behavior.

Edit: I am looking for a streamer from a non-chinese company. Hopefully not made in China as well. I understand some components will be from China as it unavoidable.

Sonos Port.
At last check, it was made in Malaysia. Software is US developed. No high res support on local libraries but very reliable for streaming services. They are the only product with Apple Music integration.

Bluesound Node Icon.
Made in China, but software is done in Canada. Has Dirac.

Denon DNP-2000NE
Made in Japan. HEOS is US based, I believe.

Hifi Rose RS250A
A little pricier than your budget, but I believe hardware and software are South Korean.

Naim and Linn
The majority of their products are made in the UK. Some of the lifestyle products from Naim are made in China. Software is also UK based. Used ones might be in your budget.

Yamaha’s streamers are made in Malaysia typically.

I think it will be hard to hear audible differences between streamer/DAC combos, so it’s really about ergonomics and interface.

A bit late to the party but here is an excellent low-cost non-Chinese streamer option. The small box on the top is a Raspberry Pi 3 with a HiFiBerry DAC2HD hat. This feeds a Schiit Midgard headphone amp (American made). While the headphones shown (Hifiman Sundaras) are from China, there are plenty of non-Chinese options. Lots of choices for the RPi software -- this one runs HiFiBerry OS but piCorePlayer is also a good option. It picks up its music from my Lyrion Music Server (LMS) which runs on a separate RPi setup in another room. (pCP OS can be set up to run both functions on a single RPi player.)

Well, sometimes you make sense. Why? is a fine question: From an adult; with context. No context was provided.
Therefore I raised a question about it.
Just out in the open, it's motive is suspect.
Baffled is also a great word.
Hopefully you can get some help with that.

No need to look any further...

Innuos streamers are designed and handcrafted in Faro, Portugal.

Nothing against Chinese people or quality of the products made by Chinese people. I am against Chinese government. Don't want to discuss politics and geopolitics in this forum. I know its impossible to buy anything which is 100% not made in China but I would like to at least reduce the amount of money going to China.

Where did the OP go? Wonder what they decided on?
Sorry for not being active on my own thread. I am thinking about Ifi Zen Streamer but haven't bought it yet. It seems like UK company though I see offices in China? I haven't looked at the recent suggestions on this thread so will take a look at those.

You might have to DIY your own with Volumio or Raspberry Pi stuff. Cos almost everything reasonably priced is made in China.

Good Luck
