Edit: I am looking for a streamer from a non-chinese company. Hopefully not made in China as well. I understand some components will be from China as it unavoidable.

I am looking a streamer not made in China but all but one streamer recommended by asr are made in China. Allo is the only one recommended not made in China but their website has been non functional for over a month and products keep showing out of stock. They might have gone out of business.

One option I was thinking is, find a streamer where the problem is with dac and not the streaming part and then use an external DAC. What do you all think? My budget for streamer + dac is $2k

I doubt you will find components in a streamer that are not made in China ..

Bel Canto e.One Stream 2 is made in the US but I would assume it has components from China.
Aurender is made in South Korea with the same caveat about components.

The major electronics manufacturing centers outside main China are Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan. Many times the PCBs will be made in main China. Then the PCB is populated, the microprocessor is flashed, and the system is final-tested in another country.

Try https://www.mcintoshlabs.com/products/music-streamers Technics and Yamaha from Japan. No idea where the Harmon brands based in Korea are made.

It is a growing field where waiting a year would produce more options.

It doesnt have be 100%. I want a non-chinese company and as much as possible not made from China.

As far as I know, raspberry pi are not made in china and can be used as streamers, like in the Allo streamer you mention (=a raspberry pi with a DAC in a box)

See for instance here:

Thanks! It doesn’t have to be 100% non-chinese as its just impossible to find that. I will checkout the products you mentioned.

Lumin and Hifi Rose are from Corea.
Volumio and Gold Note from Italy.
AVM and Nubert are German brands, but their streamer are highered priced.
...

Get a RPi and install some specialized distro.

There are other options, but they are either too boutique or too unpractical or overkill (like some HPE servers that are assembled in the US or Europe).

It is just a mini computer (made in Wales, UK), that in between many other things, can be used a streamer.
To use Spotify connect, you can, for instance, install Moodle audio, that is for free.
You can have a look here:

Check out Wiim. I believe they are UK based company. Also, to clarify what others above have mentioned about the raspberry pi. It is a Solution you need to build yourself. You buy the raspberry pi computer. You buy a case for it. You buy an 8gb ad card for storage. Then you download software from the Internet specifically developed to make the computer into a streaming audio device. Moode is my preference as others have linked above. Then you install the software onto the device and set it up yourself. If you are comfortable with building something like a PC and installing an operating system yourself the raspberry pi is a great option. If you are not the Wiim pro streamer is the best option and is includes a high quality DAC as well. All for $149 in the US. So you can save the extra $1851 for a subwoofer.

Volumio is an Italian company that makes both streamers and steaming software in Italy, I think.

I believe Wiim is a Chinese owned company (part of Linkplay per the all powerful Google)

Ok. Well if the concern is reliability they are reliable.

Volumio. Rivo/Rivo+ (streamers). Primo (streamer DAC). Etc. Are primarily Italy made,

I don’t think the concern of OP is reliability, rather it is trying to find a streamer from non-China owned company. Good luck with that (I have been on same hunt) unless you want to spend a LOT more money.
