Hey,

First post here - even if a long time reader:)

Can you please recommend a streamer with Roon support, USB output and 12v trigger out to connect to my Mcintosh C53?
I am currently using Chromecast audio via toslink but it can't control the preamp's volume (hence the USB output).
A streamer + competent dac is also an option since the DA2 digital module on C53 was not tested here (not that I would personally hear a difference)

Eversolo's A6/A8 could be an option but I had issues with it sporadically setting the Roon volume at 100% when switching inputs.

You haven't considered the WiiM Pro Plus? Or do you have no unbalanced inputs available?

I need usb output so I can control my preamp's analogue volume via roon.

But Wiim Ultra does seem to have USB output and trigger out. Will check it out, thanks!

Not sure why you want Roon to control volume . I would set Roon volume to device and control it with the Preamp.
But that's what I want to do - is just that I want to control the preamp's volume from Roon app.

As for Ropieee - tricky to set 12v trigger

I think he wants to connect a trigger to the preamp to turn it on or wake it up. I didn't know that was possible, I guess it is with the McIntosh. Maybe the one where you connect a turn table? The other 4 triggers are outgoing not incoming.

Yeah CanaKit doesn't have that hardware. Sounds like it would be very tricky to do that! RPi GPIO is 5 volts.
And, I don't know about RoPieee capabilities.

Hello MRK78,

This is Bob from BobWire Audio(manufacture). As VMAT4 suggested, I do have a couple of solutions for you. The DAT1 takes an optical digital input and provides a 12V trigger outputs when it "sees" a digital audio signal. The turn off delay is fixed. I also now have an analog version the BobWire AAT1. This takes an analog (RCA) audio input and provides two 12V trigger outputs when audio is detected. The turn off delay is adjustable from 0 to 10 minutes. Let me know if you have any questions about either product.

@mrk78 , did you ever figured this out? Is it possible to control the macintosh c53's volume trough the usb with a streamer with usb out?

Via the USB out, no. The only solution I have found is to use a Raspberry Pi as a streamer + Roon and control the volume and power via RS232 interface (via a Roon extension).
It works pretty well but you need to be willing to do some tinkering.
