I'm Interested in a simple and HIGH performance stereo system. I am retired and want to build my Dream system from my 60 year old point of view.

I would like help choosing a tweeter. dome tweeters may not play loud enough without breaking up, but horn drivers don't sound as good to me. So I guess I'm choosing between a dome tweeter and a large format horn driver (3" to 4" voice coil) (1.4" throat ) with a roundish wave guide. I've not heard any 1" horns that I like yet.

Any thoughts?

Maybe a horn loaded ribbon would do the trick.

Try with Foster T90 it's bright as sun (loud) if you wish it and point and shoot. It's not ultra modern one that goes up to ultrasonics but I don't think you need that anyway (no one really does).
FE206En are pretty much my dream full range driver's but again that's me and they are hard to get.

If you're talking about designing your own speakers and building them please realize there is a LOT more to speaker design than it may appear. Do some research so you don't waste time and money because it's not easy.

I suggest a tri-amplified system with woofer, horn midrange and dome tweeters for top end. Use a active crossover with parametric EQ. You will have lots and lots of adjustment to get the top end just how you like it and the mids will be snappy and tight.

FWIW and apropos of (almost) nothing ;)
I am quite enamored of the (shielded) FE207E. It isn't quite a shrill as the 206 (to my ears) and it has a slightly higher Qts making it a little more accommodating of simple enclosures/alignments.

(it pains me to see how much better that room looked before I put all the rest of my junk in there! :( )

The T90 is a pretty good 'supertweeter', too. Used a pair with my Altec Duplexes for quite a while.

If I had a little more energy, I might spend some time tryin' to convince the OP to reconsider horn tweeters if he/she/they want output :) Not all horn loaded treble or tweeter drivers are ear gougers! :)

Hi and thank you for your reply. I am in Oregon USA, and that is a great idea, i did look into the Radian Audio planer drivers
the high end falls off, but then mine has too. 60 years of loud noise and machinery

t90 is a very good idea, how low can you cross it at? I think I saw 5K.
