Stereo Setup - Dirac ART or Genelec GLM?

No, I didn't. You can't do that.

For GLM I used a 7370a + genelec speakers
I sold the 7370a and a few months later in time:
For ART I used 2x kef kc62 + same genelec speakers

The 7370 with a 12" woofer and the bigger size is a stronger beast for power and digging deep, but thanks to dirac Art I still much prefer the bass now using the kef, it's much drier.
Of course that's totally subjective and memory is a bad friend. I didn't tried art with the 7370, but I guess it would have probably sounded even better.
Which mains are you using? I did some testing of GLM and ART here. It wasn't very conclusive.

Very interesting!

My mains are 8050b (so they were not corrected, and crossover was 80hz), but I was muting them for the "test" because I focused my attention on the subwoofers sound.
As said my comparison is based on memory (which is not reliable) and subjective (not even SPL calibrated). Moreover is 2x small subs vs 1x big (even if the the total woofer area is almost the same). This was not a planned test, just two points in my life.
My room is problematic, so multiple sources had for sure an advantage.
That said I was not as impressed from the glm correction as I was from the art one. I had the sensation of a bass starting and stopping way faster with art and (of course) more even distribution outside the listening position. If glm gave me the impression of a non boomy bass, art redefined what I'm looking for in good bass alltogether.

Subjectivity as well as practical aspects had probably played an involuntary role in my judgement. That said, if it's the case, I never had a placebo effect as strong as that before.

P.s. if I'm not wrong (I haven't tried it yet, I've just readed about it once), dirac should have an Infra-bass bypass option, so it doesn't introduce the steep filter under 20hz you are seeing in your graph

P.s. However I had the same impression with a A/B blind test on the same system between dirac art and standard Dirac/ dirac bass control (which uses more similar kind of corrections like glm does).

I've got GLM and Dirac ART running in parallel. I can switch from one to the other in a couple seconds.

GLM is more accurate, but seems harsher, and bass dirtier.

ART is smoother and allows the mids+ more of a stage.

For some reason, ART sounds terrible on some songs. The beginning of Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes, and the beginning of Pretend by Brandt Brauer Frick are terrible. Sounds like speaker is maxed out and distorted in the kick bass region. But most other songs ok.

Anyone else experience this?

I have not. I'm no expert and I can't be sure for your case, because Art's work is totally dependent on your system configuration (how many subs, placement, how capable are the speakers, and so many others) and subject of a high degree of variables. Because of that I remember Art generated a lot of support request/patches/etc. when released and I'm sure they can't have solved any possible scenario (it's impossible).
However your description make me think you should reduce the support requested to some speakers/subs or change how low some speakers are allowed to go, because they are asked too much (demanding more bass hits more heavily on speakers than other frequencies and can easily brings distortion).
Are you using passive speakers or passive subs?
Do you experience the same distortions at lower volumes?
I guess if you put the subwoofers closer to you they should also gain more headroom, but as everything it's a trade-off and may not work if they became to easy to localize.

P.s. I advise against having one room correction on top of the other, there are already soo many variables

They're all active speakers

> Do you experience the same distortions at lower volumes?
Nope. Even at -50dB I hear the same sound

> I guess if you put the subwoofers closer to you they should also gain more headroom, but as everything it's a trade-off and may not work if they became to easy to localize.
I don't think they're running out of headroom because I hear the same sound at low volume and these speakers are loafing.

> P.s. I advise against having one room correction on top of the other, there are already soo many variables
I agree 100%. The two are never running simultaneously.

Thanks for the feedback and sorry for delayed response. I'm gonna try improving the subs locations this weekend to see if that helps.

Ok, I don't have many other ideas unfortunately, I guess contacting dirac may give you better answers.
One last thing that I would try is to re-do the calibration. I wouldn't be surprise if there is a problem with gain somewhere in the chain

The problem with Art or any software using cancellation is that the number of subwoofers, placement, speaker type, calibration, etc. make for a lot of variables.

To me it's kinda the same principle as room treatment. How it's made, in which room etc. influence greatly how much one can benefit from it compared to other solutions (which doesn't deny it's useful, but you can't take one exemple and generalize).
That said any mesurement is always welcomed

Yes but for

Our 60 day free trial lets you find out for yourself if it works for you or not :D But overall I would be surprised if our solution wasn't the preferred one in any room at any price. (And I would like to see some measurements to figure out why so we can keep improving)
