Star Wars: Andor (TV)

lol. Andor is infinitely better than Ahsoka, unless you enjoy watching her cross her arms (a power move (/s)). And as for things getting worse, Andor's end tied things together and connected with Rogue One which connected with ANH, whereas Ahsoka season 1 ending was just dumb. If you ever read the first Thrawn trilogy by Zahn you'd see how bad that was.

People are starting to repeat opinions at least for the 3rd or 4th time by now..

I hope Andor leads to something more which is somewhat similar at least

I'm really looking forward to seeing the new Mandalorian & Grogu at theater next week or so.
If it's anything like the TV series, we'll finally have the kind of Star Wars entertainment that I enjoy the most. ;)

Rogue One was a fairly decent S-W's movie but although I saw it in cinema bought the 4k BD, I don't think I've been driven to watch it more than once since I purchased it.
It was fairly decent which seems the best we can (new) hope for these days although the ending didn't sit right with me. If Vader can board a star ship and kill everyone with impunity why do they bother sending stormtroopers to board Leia's spacecraft at the start of Episode IV? Just taking casualties for no reason.

Vader was taking a toilet break.

Sadly something like that is the only viable explanation. He shows up about a minute later in any case. Maybe he got his cape caught in a door? They do close alarmingly fast.

Later, on the Death Star when Han and Luke are holding off the stormtroopers in the detention block, he's present on the station so he could have gone down in the turbolift and sorted that out too. Or had he already decided to let them escape by that point? So many unanswered questions.

I think they were quite different and both had their positives... Ahsoka seems to be more like ol' SW.

Oh, I absolutely agree it is more like, well, 'generic' SW, but I meant that the quality was different. The writing, dialog and acting is just way better in Andor. That doesn't mean people have to like it, but I think there is a clear difference in quality.

But if it's not Gilroy writing then the chance of it being as good is quite low, but one can hope at least!

Yeah... I'm on the fence about the whole thing. I actually think it might make more sense to develop other "areas" of SW, like Mando and Ahsoka (though I think they are very overrated), and if they're going to spend more time with the rebellion BBY I'm not sure I'm that interested in those two characters. I mean, maybe there are stories to tell there, but I'm skeptical of it.

EDIT: If they could maybe do a few characters to follow, like Saw, operating in other factions, then I could see that as being interesting. Sort of seeing how the different factions view rebellion differently.

Getting in and out of that suit to take a dump could take a while. I think. I mean, it looks that way anyway. But sure, it's a bit silly retroactively to see him that powerful and then they waste storm troopers just to take the ship. That's really the danger of making new content, both before and after the OG trilogy. All I'll say is that you couldn't possibly have f-ed that up more than the sequels did. That was just grade-A nonsense through and through.

As for the detention center I think that's a plausible explanation. Kill Obi and then let the rest escape. Makes total sense.

Yeah I mean it really is about the writing, not the subject matter itself. Andor wasn't good because it was about Andor, it was because of Tony Gilroy wrote a supurb script. The Acolyte, Ashoka, Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan etc would be awesome if someone with the same writing skills as Gilroy wrote it, but now that didn't happen and therefor they all sucked.
So getting a spinoff of Andor doesn't really say anything, and yeah we've gotten that backstory of the rebellion now so please lets get a story about something else, just make sure the script isn't dumb.

It does. Okay he is relying on the stormtroopers to fail to kill them but seeing as not a one of them could hit a bull in the arse with a bag of rice (was this lack of ability baked into the clones?) he's not really taking a big chance there.

Agree, if the sequels had been up to the standard of Rogue One I don't think anyone would have complained. I actually watched 'The Last Jedi' the other day when it was on TV thinking I'd not seen it before and it was a minute or two in before I realised I had seen it before. That's how unmemorable it is. No doubt I've seen the third one too but right now I couldn't tell you one thing about it.

Just remembered doesn't Admiral Ackbar get killed in the last one? And the only reason I remember that is because of his breakfast cereal.

'Your tongues can't repel flavour of this magnitude!'

All you need to know about the third one is 'space horses riding on the deck of a Star Destroyer'.

That's really all you need. Not that anything else was much better.

It's just like with my wife and me. We never leave the house on time either, and neither of us knows why.
