Star Wars: Andor (TV)

The Drinker speaking squarely at the SW/Disney failures as they try to figure out why they alienated and lost half their audience. As for his reviews, I agree with him more often than not:

What a perfectly seen view of not only Disney but much of the world in the Woke screwy last decade. It hits everything I complain about in Andor, boring, true action-adventure written Sci-Fi lacking film. ho hum BS. How many times have I called it Chick Flick'd Star Wars in this thread ???

It becomes true after 100 repeats. Probably.

Here's the thing. If comparing Andor to recent and prior SW offerings, it's downright brilliant. Some excellent acting, CGI, sets, etc. Some episodes were solid, some were ok, some made no real sense, but overall, I enjoyed it. It did force some suspension of disbelief, but SW always has. Compared to something like The Expanse (especially before it went to Amazon), it's meh at best. Star Wars was no Blade Runner, that's for sure.

Lol, except that he doesn't hit Andor at all in that one, instead he could have used it as a good example of how it's supposed to be done. A series with well written and strong male AND female characters, but all of them still flawed and struggling people with lots of depth. Compare that to what other crappy Mary Sue stuff they have been churning out the last decade and it's so clear that Andor-like Star Wars is the way forward. It won't happen though since Tony Gilroy doesn't seem to want to stay with Star Wars for whatever reason, and instead they will have to do with the two jokes Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau ;\

The Drinker generally liked Andor and outlines why and how it got good:

^
"It didn't fit all that well with the franchise, clunky and crudely written"
Then he gets excited over the last couple episodes, AKA the fight for Gorman.
Well I agree, mainly with his assessment of the series up to the last 3 and even "some" of the finals with the GLARING exception of the Bix rescue, what a mess.
But we'll see if and when there's a season 3. Unlike Drinker, I can't change my opinion on the entire show over a couple good action scenes after 2 years of being a snooze fest. I have watched it all, always hoping for something better, but I won't be revisiting any of it in the future. OTOH I have revisited Mandatorian and Boba Fett seasons 2 or 3 times now.
YMMV

He wanted to do 5 seasons but Disney told him streaming is dead

"Yes, that statement accurately reflects comments from Tony Gilroy, the creator of the Disney+ show Andor, who revealed that Disney managers told him "streaming is dead" and they didn't have the same funds available for a five-season run, ultimately limiting the show's length. Gilroy had initially wanted to produce five seasons of the critically acclaimed Star Wars series but had to "fight hard about money" for the second season"

Except that it does, it's just a bit shorter and more generic pew pew.

And quite a bit dumber, more fan-servicey, and yet another piece of evidence that Lucasfilm never really had a plan for Star Wars. What Mike (Plinkett) said is correct: Star Wars is a ship without a captain.

It’s hard to know exactly what Tony Gilroy did during the Rogue One reshoots, or what state the movie was in when Gareth Edwards was sidelined. It’s a shame Gilroy wasn’t there from the start; I imagine it would have been a superior film.

And Andor S1 and S2 are Rogue One prequels..

OK, so we'll see if Andor does another season if it's named Andor Season 3, or Andor Rouge One, or just Rouge One, or even Rouge Two ? LOL

It won't get another season which is very clear if you actually watched it.

That doesn't make Rogue One, Andor S3
Peaky Blinders has so far had 5 seasons on the telly. The story will be concluded with an actual movie.
Obviously I'd rather have a finishing season, but I get that they want to do something different..

This was also the case for Game of Thrones..

Showrunners' Original Plan:
David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the showrunners of the Game of Thrones TV series, originally wanted to conclude the saga with a trilogy of feature films.

I don't know about that, It seems many will make more as long as they're popular enough to make money.
How long has Dr Who been on with some strong and weak years.
As hard as the BBC has tried to kill the series with inappropriate casting and pushing woke political positions, there's still a demand for good Sci-Fi
and "fun to watch" space&time adventures. I do hope they'll get their heads out of their rectums one day soon. ;)

It's not woke just because there is a gender swap or change of color. I can't get how many of you have your panties in a twist because you don't get everything your way. It's like watching real life No Mams Club hosted by the likes of Bundy. It's becoming embarasing to watch so called grown ups whining about superhero stuff too.
Oh no. Silver surfer now has curves. Oh the horror. Gives us more males to stare at.
Pathetic.
