I'd guess it's the new oak Vs reused oak, and or the temperature of the warehouses.

'Been on the Four Roses Single Barrel tip, lately. Quite enjoyable.

Did some 6yr Templeton Rye, recently, too. Solid Rye flavor, clean, but it was still a little rough around the edges. Also got some fight in it, so don't drink it around the SO.
