Tell me more about that Aberlour …
I don't know much about it, and the bottle gives little away. It's very fine and smooth; judging by the colour it was matured 15 years or so in the American oak barrels this Highlands distillery uses.
It's from my late father's collection, and was probably laid down 20+ years ago, for me to enjoy now.
From the website: 'our founder, James Fleming, established the Aberlour distillery in 1879. To this day, we adhere to his philosophy: “Let the deed show”.'
So, very similar philosophy to ASR :)

Well its not a spirit but:

This is a Danish Liqueur, and a long time favourite...

Basically it is like drinking premium black bing cherries, with alcohol (circa 24%)...

I use it as a syrup on vanilla ice cream, or sipped in a small shot glass - it is also fantastic mixed with Advocaat:

Which is a Dutch drink, basically eggnog with brandy... or a boozy custard... the Advocaat + Cherry Heering combo is fantastic as an accompaniment to plain sponge cake... (a combination which I was introduced to by some friends of Austrian origin!)

Chivas Regal Royal Salute 21 yr old very smooth whisky, and some Belle and Sebastian on the CD player
