Spinorama MoFi Sourcepoint 888 vs MoFi Sourcepoint V10 ME Data + general help needed choosing a speaker

Quick update, after 20mins of listening. Standing wave bass null still here :( but that was somewhat expected. Incremental upgrade at best in all other aspects. As noted in other forums, they do need to be pushed loud for bass to present itself, what was 33-35 ()Wiim Ultra) loudness for solid bass on Focal is now 45-50 on MoFi. That, I really don't like, but I'm hoping to EQ that, RoomFit settings are left from Focal setup.

Definitely need to go with subs.

On the plus side, aesthetically they look way nicer that 2 black monolith coffins from Focal :)
yeah they're by no means true full range as in not needing subs for blockbuster movies, but that would be approaching neumann kh420 prices or maybe even blade 2 meta. they still can go loud without distorting and have headroom for eq though. can always dial in more bass like I did with my minidsp flex+dirac. i have huge nulls on some setups too, but they're narrow and rew psychoacoustic smoothing shows that they're not the end of the world so I just let it be.

Did I read that correctly, you are using the RoomFit settings of your Focals to listen to the MoFis? You absolutely should not do that.
Try EQing them to a proper target curve to produce the level of base you like, before thinking about subs. They may not solve anything without moving your listening position or changing your room.

don't neglect studio monitors- attachment shows frequency response L+R on listening position.(moving microphone measured)

Room, listening position and furniture are very similar to your room-just a few percent difference.(non rectangular average 6m x 13m x 2.6m) Speaker is a Adam Audio S3V with intern DSP capability.
only the peaks below 300Hz are EQ'ed.

Yeah, I've re-calibrated RoomFit to them, but no real advantage. Mind you, I'm just using an iPhone mic and very little to no knowledge of this whole process. I will let them settle in now and definitely explore more serious EQ paths in the next few weeks, I believe I can squeeze the max out of them yet :) It should help level out the lower volume/lower bass issue as well, right?

Yes, I would do some REW measurements and go from there.

Try 1/4 of the way up the side walls. A measurement mic and REW can simulate speaker and sub placement FWIW.
Huh, thnx for this tip.

Tried playing a bit with simulations, these two are is the best I got :) And I'm not even sure which one is better.

Sub placement is not what I originally envisioned, when up against the front wall, the curve looks even worse. And simulated with one, as two made no difference within my space constraints.

With that being said, played a bit with EQ and more importantly speaker placement - moved them further to the walls and oh my... much better. Tilted speakers off axis, crossed behind my head a bit and staging is fantastic. No fatigue after 2h of listening, Focals were not as forgiving. Listening position is still affected by the standing wave null, but I'm writing this seated at my dining table and the bass is sublime. For years, I was under the impression I needed to be very strict with my sweet spot for critical listening, but now I actually enjoy music while cooking or doing anything around the room :)

Will edit some of my previous posts, as to not give people the wrong impressions. In a different (shorter) room, or just different seating positions, these do not require a sub for stereo listening (measured max SPL *with iPhone at 99db).

*edit, can't edit older posts
