Hello all,

I just received a REL S2 with a Speakon cable that has the following wire colours:
- brown
- blue
- yellow-green

Does anyone know which colour goes where? ( ex. brown goes to left +, …..)

Thanks!

REL S/2 Speakon Cable Wiring Diagram
  • RED wire: Connect to Amplifier Right Channel Positive (+) terminal.
  • YELLOW wire: Connect to Amplifier Left Channel Positive (+) terminal.
  • BLACK wire: Connect to Amplifier Ground or Chassis terminal.
  • Speakon End: Plugs directly into the High-Level Input on the REL S/2
Don't blame me if it's wrong, I just googled it for ya.

Enjoy

REL standard

Your cable

Red (R+)

Brown

Yellow (L+)

Yellow/Green

Black (-’)

Blue
Note that if you have a differential amp, do not connect the blue wire!!!

If you want to be 100% sure, check what color goes to what Speakon pin:
  • Pin 1+ → Left +
  • Pin 2+ → Right +
  • Pin 1− → Ground
Or even better, hook it up via the low-level sub input.

Also- Speakon connectors are dark grey and blue with 2, 4 or 8 poles while Powercons are light grey and blue with 3 poles. Hope that helps.

Where did you get the subwoofer? The cable is probably not an original REL cable. Here's a photo from TMR audio of a REL S2 original cable. Open the speakon and see how it's wired.

Speaker wire colors are not standard. Even knowing what pins they are connected to inside the SpeakON connector would not tell you what terminals to connect them to on on the sub. Only REL can tell you that.

Hey all,

So, I opened up the Speakon Connector and found the following:
- 1+ - brown
- 2+ - blue
- 1- - yellow-green

So, I connected them as:
- Brown - R+
- Blue - L+
- Yellow-Green - R-

I'm still trying to find the sub's place and settings. It is timely when doing it alone.

Thank you all!
