Hello everyone,
i bought a pair of speakers JBL 305P MKII to put plug them into my keyboard (the instrument) . For some reaosn though, when I plug them in they just do not work at all. The speakers are brand new and the keyboard's systems are 100% working. Could it possibly be the cables? I used Jack trs 1/4 and the other side XLR male, if this is the case what cables should I use instead?

What model keyboard is it? (They often have unbalanced output only, but supporting balanced cabling as well is neither expensive nor rocket science. If you do only have TS jacks that could be a problem though.) Are the JBLs turned on (you should be hearing a bit of hiss) and is their volume control set to a sensible level?

Make sure you download and read the manuals carefully. You've probably missed something.

What keyboard and cables have you?

That's at the keyboard? Is there only one TRS jack? If there is only one TRS output it's probably stereo (unbalanced) and you'll need an adapter to split the left & right. (The separated left & right unbalanced connections will work into the speaker's balanced inputs.)

To be exact since im not really that good with these stuff and im still trying to learn I used these specific cables. My keyboard has unbalanced output for sure and I used a different cable for each output (Left (mono), right) Prostage Audio Cable XLR male - 6.3mm male (MTS-03). And yes they were turned on ( I hope this was the issue ) and the volume was on 70-80%

There are two exits on my keyboard (Left(mono) and right) and I used both exits, one for each speaker.

Does this include being able to get sound through the L and R outputs using something else besides the JBL speakers?

If you don't have something else to check whether the L and R outputs are functioning, maybe just go ahead and see if a factory reset of the keyboard solves the problem?

I do not have something to test them but the ports have only been used like 4-5 times and every time they worked perfectly.

OK, try plugging something else into the speakers... Your computer, your phone or a CD player, of the audio out of your TV, etc. (You'll need different0 adapters/cables.)

Already done. I plugged them in my computer and they worked perfectly, which makes sense since they are brand new.

These are the wrong type cables for this device. You need an unbalanced, T/S to XLR cable.

You have this:

Won't the center ring in the TRS just not carry a signal using the top cable, so functioning the same?

Since what he has is not working; what do you think is happening inside the output jack on the Roland that would cause the problem that he has with the cables he has?

I don't know but it also seems to me that the cables he has should work. If it were me I would try a reset if he can't verify that the outputs are currently working.

Tried it as well, didnt work. From my understanding I made a wrong purchase. I guess the jack should have been a TS instead of TRS.

Do you have any double-ended TS on hand to try?

Here is part of the Roland schematic I found in the service manual: https://www.scribd.com/document/676768865/Roland-E-09-Service-Manual

I tried to add clarification in blue, as I understand it (could be mistaken). But it looks to me like R and S are shorted together so that the cable you have will function the same as the TS to XLR cable. Maybe someone who is more familiar with this stuff can comment. I am not trying to be too insistent that your cables should work, just offering this in an attempt to be helpful or giving info to someone who can be more helpful than I am.
