Speakers from last century that you love

My first homemade coaxial speakers (1983):
Isophon Orchester 2000

I really loved these. They were great speakers, which I gave away and which are unfortunately almost impossible to find today.

Here, someone has integrated them into a Tannoy cabinet.

I had a set of Janzen electrostatic in the early 70's. We listened to the Alex Harvey band and Lucifer's Friend.
I had a DBX 117 and a Sunsui AU 7500 amp.

Here are some of my older speakers (I do not still have all of them lol) I currently still have the Dahlquist DQM 9 (3M Nextel coated), JBL SR4732A and DCM TF600. The Yamaha S4115H, Magnepans, Harman Kardon HK40 are no longer with me. I did find recently someone selling some Yamaha S5115HT and am trying to resist getting them. - View attachment 514213View attachment 514214View attachment 514215View attachment 514216View attachment 514217View attachment 514218

Love the JBL's! I still hold onto my JBL SR-4722 which remain in my twin brother's rehearsal studio. I ran a full outdoor concert amphitheatre with them, and many large ballrooms in Seattle for wedding and corporate events, in fact, I also gigged my boss, at that time, 8 layers above me at Microsoft, Steve Balmer's backyard summer BBQ function for the top 75 evil doers at Microsoft. And there was me, a lowly Program Manager. Did I open my mouth about being on the Microsoft Windows Server Search Team? Not a snowball's chance in hell. I let my Brasilian Jazz Quinteto business stand alone as an outside vendor at his Brasilian theme soiree. I did meet him, as came up to shake my hand, and he was very affable in person.

And those Yamaha 115 bins are exactly like the ones I used in the late '70s in my high school Jazz Stage Band. They are strong workhorses too. I was helping a dear pal, fellow Jazz guitarist move back to the Bay Area, and he offered me his old DCM Time Frame Speakers. I politely declined because I am pretty well stocked up with my Vandersteen and Wharfedales in my den and livingroom.

Great speakers!

Great speakers!
The JBLs are great. I had to get new diaphragms installed in the baby butt cheek tweeters and the crossovers were recapped. They are the fronts for my LCR in my home theater. They are great in 2 channel mode also, fed by my emotiva xpa 3 and Yamaha rx a4a.

I don’t own these Large Advent speakers from the 1970s. I wish I did. But these are my all time favorite vintage speakers. The bullnose cabinets look awesome.

These are my speakers in my main system. Brought them new in the 80’s. They were my first “Good” speaker. I refurbished them about ten years ago and they still sound pretty good.

Until something fries that can't be replaced, my endgame speakers. NHT 3.3
12" woofer, 6.5" lower midrange, 4" upper midrange, 1" tweeter

I’ve mentioned before: those speakers are so deep! When I auditioned them in the late 90s I remember sitting in front of them fairly closely and imagining Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing flying down that canyon.
