Speakers from last century that you love

i also love my Aerial 8b!

I love being on a forum where folks have a "favorite tweeter." ;)
I should clarify with, "where it can be used." Does not go below 6K well. Love it with a 2" dome mid, although, for example, the Dynaudio D52 AF did not go up quite high enough to pair well. Would be interesting to try again with them new-fangled active filters and DSP.

I got a pair of Para Lab transmission line speakers for £60 about a year ago. They don't look high end compared to similar period B&W or TDL but since then, I've had Proac floor standers, TDL Cheviots and two pairs of Spendor beauties and they have all been sold on.
These are keepers. Exquisite sound and the bass is like nothing else I've heard.

JM renauld offrandes, the 'Mk 1' versions, had a pair since 2000, wonderful things, just getting to the point where I'm wondering if there is something better out there.

Me too.

I had Richard So rebuild all components about 4 years ago. So they'll probably out live me.
My ex had a pair with water-damaged veneer, and dodgy screens, but they sounded glorious even with an old pedestrian Technics 2.0 H-Class Receiver running them. They sounded ridiculously better than my old EPI TE/360 10" midbass with a 12" passive radiator, 4" mid, 1" tweeter. My speakers had decent extension, but just sounded leaner and slower than her a/d/s L/1290s. The warmth, balance, and detail were remarkable. She wanted smaller speakers, but it was impossible to find anything under $2K that could even come close to her a/d/s, which really only needed the veneer refreshed. I know they would give my Vandersteens a run for the money.

From 1999 . Just at the edge of the last century criteria. Dynaudio countour 1.3 se

Our kid moved to his own apartment and I got hold of of my old set of these :) they been around in the family and no one used them .

Jamo Concert 11's.

From my late father. I am going to set them up in a man cave (to be built in my cellar).

Quadral Titan mk1 was a dream back in the days. I had to get along with the smaller and way cheaper (which is why) Tribun model then.

I am a fan of electrostatic speakers, beginning in the late 1960’s with KLH Model 9’s and owning Quad 57’s and other progressive Quad models through 2019 including an HQD System by Levinson.

I now have a Sanders 10e system, likely my final primary, being in my 85th year. It is, to me, the epitome of all the ‘stats I have owned; they are also guaranteed forever.

I have a lovely little bedroom system consisting of KEF R3, powered by a Cambridge EVO 75 with streaming from an iPad and Roon. In the dining room, JBL 308’s, run with Bluetooth from an Apple laptop - again Roon/Tidal as source.

Now, due to US Army basic training utilizing live fire Garand and Colt .45, along with artillery, all without any hearing protection causing loss to high frequencies - - -and now, from simple aging, my
hearing cuts off at about 6K. As a result, I no longer require super tweeters or any high frequency augmentation - sad, because a massless ion plasma tweeter would be fun :-).

So endeth the lesson.

I loved my Audiostatic 300 ESL in the eighties, then I loved my Apogee Centaurus Minor, then I loved my Apogee Stage, then I loved my Apogee Duetta... (I still have all of them ;)
And I always loved all Cello Stradivari speakers, particularly the small Elves. Incredible natural sound from such a tiny speaker. That's why I'm in the process of building a Cello-Premiere-like-diy-pair of speakers. I've got all ingredients (speakers) and I'll probably go active filtering. When it will be ready, but I'm slow, God I'm slow...

Those stats are certainly highly regarded!

Very nice. You lucky person!
I had the Concert VIIs fr 1992-2023. Superb Danish-built quality. Wish I chose to sell one of my other spkrs instead of them.
