Speakers for bedroom ?

Hi,

I'm looking for bedroom hifi.

Wiim seems to be a good way to go, but I'm not able to choose "ideal" speakers.
I can imagine both active (with Wiim Pro Plus) or passive (with Wiim Amp Pro) ones.

I'm adding sketch of bedroom and possible placement of speakers.
I prefere speakers mounted on or close to wall, because of limited space.

Room is not acoustically treated, but I plan to add some acoustic panels.
But I hope this must not be a big issue because I will play music only at very low levels.
And this is, beside of limited space, my second request - it should be
good enough for very silent night listening of jazz and classical music which I prefer.

It can be 2.0 or 2.1 setup.

Cost limit for whole setup is max 1000euro, but less is prefered

So far I have considered Wiim Pro Plus and Kali IN-5 (but I don't know if that would be usable for wall mounting) or Wiil Am Pro and Dali Oberon On Wall (but some users rate them as a bit uncomfortable at heights, which would bother me ..).

I originally also considered the Edifier S1000W, but their sound probably wouldn't be refined enough for classical music, and I read that the they are not good for listening at low volumes.

Sitting or lying? Perhaps ceiling mount/speakers could work. I guess some kind of on wall variant of speaker models will suit this setup; but will likely need a sub. That being said my desktop speakers with 2x 3" drivers per side do enough with a little EQ. Depends if you want full range bass

The Kali may be a good choice and the dip-switches on the back should help with some bass eq for tight-to-wall mounting, the coax mid-tweeter maybe helping with listening off-axis. Don't worry about the response at and above 20kHz as off-axis and a couple of metres away, I very much doubt it'd be at all noticeable and if you're over 35, it won't matter anyway as your hearing will have gone off a little up there (male hearing changes with age).

I also had thoughts of JBL 305 or 306 too.

I'm looking at LP-UNF at moment - they are powered speakers not actives, but if sound is ok, it doesn't matter. And it would be possible to play directly from tablet using USB-OTG. So no wiim nor WiFi needed.

I was momentarily happy to found affordable active speakers with coax SPDIF input - Kali MM-6. But only before I found out how it is implemented. The second speaker is connected via the analog signal from the first. So the digital input is again converted back and forth unnecessarily like when an analog input is used.
I have to say that I don't understand the manufacturers why they keep doing it this way in the digital age .. So far I only know about the KH 120 II / KH 150, which have it implemented logically. But they are unnecessarily expensive for the bedroom.

JBL 308 MKII is also good in budget, but analog (balanced) input. The Neumann KH80 DSP fits just in your budget i think, and has enough bass to work high against the wall (that will give you extra bass due to wall loading).

If wall mounting up high, are you happy to see power cables running up the walls?

If you need to hide the cables, feeding speaker cable into drywall (if that’s what it is) is a lot simpler than electrical work.

Credenza mounted would be easier for cable management.

If there’s no significant other with aesthetic opinions, then maybe it’s not an issue.

after some more searching, it seems passives ELAC DBR-62 with new Wiim Amp Plus would be safest bet (no noise of actives, simple installation)

I found another active, which seems to be able to fullfill my demands - Mackie MR624.

No measuremets here (only smaller MR524 which seems to be fine), but I have read some reviews and user opinions, and MR624 seems to be relatively forgiving and pleasant speakers, not fatiguing and with good sound at low volume levels - all things I'm looking for.

They are classic A/B analog speakers, no DSP. Not sure if its plus or minus, but it gives more logic to not convert analog signal from Wiim Pro Plus back to digital and again to analog in DSP speakers.

I'm not sure about hiss/humm. I didn't found any criticism, so I hope it's ok ?
