There really never was any 'pixie dust' inside Bose 901s... no matter how much some thought they were magical!
When I found this thread earlier, I had every intention to post the innards (cut-out) of my MoFi SP10ME, but I was beaten to the punch by 2 years.
Then, I thought to post my now-retired Vandersteen2ci innards but could not locate a quality image.
OT: One of the reasons for my first 2c purchase (~1983) was the fact that you were not paying for a fancy cabinet and its woodwork.

Saw a pair of them at the long-defunct Sony outlet store in Gaffney, SC for $2K. I regret not buying them, but I was 15 at the time and had nowhere to put them!

An example of inserting some Xover substitutes damping material esp. in lower frequency ranges?
No. It was an outlet store that resembled a very well-managed Circuit City store in the 1980s but without a listening room.

That's like an old school Augspurger studio main that would normally be flush mounted in the front wall. I bet they kick ass knowing these 15" JBL woofers from their big PA speakers. But, $100k list price is a little excessive considering what comparable pro audio systems go for.
