As a newbie to speakers I just noticed that some pro speakers like the genelec 8331A and Adam S2V etc utilise dsp in crossover and accept both digital or analog input. So does that mean they actually benefit from pure digital in compared to external dacs for sound purity as that would reduce one layer of AD and DA conversion?

Yes as said above. This means you can save money and not bother with external dacs. I have those 8331s and they are superb. Go for them! :)

while I completely got where you're from, for one having a loved system of dac and headphone already I personally prefer speakers that measure reasonably well without any DSP so I can get my familiar sound using speakers, plus the 8331s cost a total of all my organs, so probably can't afford those

Well, you can certainly continue using your DAC with DSP active speakers if that ends up being more convenient! I wouldn't expect the extra conversions to make a difference in the sound quality of the speakers. On the other hand, the flexibility afforded by DSP to the speaker designer can certainly allow them to make a much more technically competent speaker.

If you think your DAC has anything to do with getting a "familiar sound", you either have a very bad DAC, or you're fooling yourself.

Just noticed that the new Adam T5V and T7V despite being a dsp speaker they have only analogue input, curious what did their dsp is incapable to do any actual DA convention or just segmentation for them

I'd be a bit worried about audible hiss, depending on the sensitivity and self-noise of the A/D. On the other hand, it would be really useful to have both if the speakers allow switching between analog and digital input on the fly.
