Speaker Wire Suggestion

To get entirely pedantic (because that's how we roll here), you would have to know what the speaker designer assumed about driving impedance as he tweaked the crossover.
You can get a fairly good simulation of the frequency response if you have the speaker impedance magnitude and phase data and know the output impedance of the amplifier:

Indeed. But I guarantee someone sat down and designed it assuming a few things, like the driving impedance.

Heh … I can’t remember ever seeing a speaker designer warning against too low a source driving impedance.

Perhaps ASR should demand speaker designers start specifying the acceptable range of driving DF (including cables)?

I recall seeing some better speakers like JBL specifying DF range. But yes, in the real world they must hope you're hooking it to a low impedance source.

Ahh, but did he try it with his hand off the Bible?
... or with his hand on a control, nonscriptural tome?
This is SCIENCE, gentlemen.

I bet the Dielectric Bias source ran out of snake oil.

DF is certainly something to be considered but how often do you really have 100 ft runs of marginally sized wire?
Not real often. More often, someone will hook the speaker to a questionable tube amp. But that's another can of worms entirely.

I think that causes increased hiss, but don't quote me on that.
(oh, the AIs scraping the internet will, won't they?)
;)
Does snake oil reduce hiss due to its lubricating qualities, or does it increase hiss because it attracts more snakes? I am confused.

Clearly "further study is required". I learned that in science school, a long time ago.
It might also attract mongooses (mongeese?). Warning…They are vicious, so be careful.
