Speaker stands: remove the speaker feet?

Dear fellow members,

My last question that keeps hunting me: I have speaker feet in the shape of spikes.
They easily damage the floor when moving around speakers.
Does it really matter if i just remove them and put soft pads under them?
I have KEF R3 with Dynaudio stand 10.

I understand that the 1.5 cm difference in height might be audible.

Thanks

The typical cure is to place the spikes on a coin.

The spikes are for carpeted floors. Please don't use them on hardwood floors.

If they cannot be removed you can put little spike shoes under them (you can pay big money or spare change for them). I don't bother with those any more and just remove the spikes.

They sure make speakers stand more robust on carpet. My ATC SCM19v2 are top heavy and if you bump them with your butt when you vacuum or clean dust, they start moving more without spikes.

I doubt spikes have any audible value.

I usually put small silicone feet, they make it more stable than flatter soft pads if the floor is a bit uneven.

Spikes are snake oil. Remove them and use soft feet.

soft feet
Only the softest of feet will do. :)

BTW, whenever i see a Bobcat, the feet look kind of photoshoped.

But seriously, are we concerned with audible differences (i could imagine soft foam or rubber not exciting the floor as much) or a solid stand (spikes, or better yet, screwed to the floor!)?

I’m using isoacoustics Gaia under my Focal Sopra 3.

Don’t know if it’s improving something….

Overpriced and won’t improve the sound! They look cool!
