Since there seemed to be a fair bit of interest in this sort of visualization, I started a thread (thanks to @sweetchaos).

Looks like this:
1611957606975.png

It is far from complete of course, but helps to comprehend the actual size differences between different speakers - something that is hard to gauge from reading numbers and looking at pictures without context.

The beauty of the site I used is that it is incredibly easy to use and share, there are a few pitfalls though:
- To add a speaker simply click "quader(x|y|z Länge|Breite|Höhe)" and add depth, width and height and only after that the coordinates (I did a few of them wrong already ...).
- Do not use "+" in the text, browsers will not be able to make sense of the link anymore when sharing (it's wrong in the picture here).

If anybody knows a better way to easily make and share those models, please enlighten us.

Under the following links there are 3D models of different near field monitors reviewed by Amir:

Active studio monitors:

Took me a min to figure out the language...

I just added the following text to the end of the code:
quader(5|5|0 1.15|1.21|1.95) 8010
text(5|5|0 "8010")

This puts the "Genelec 8010" speaker immediately on the map, so you can visualize it.
Then:
1. I changed x=5, y=5 to something that will match the rest of the lineup
2. The dimensions are in a weird format...it's not "centimeter" or "millimeter" as you would think.
Example: Genelec 8010 is 115mm (or 11.5cm) in depth.
But on this website, I had to write 1.15
That's what threw me off...haha

I had to choose a scale that fitted the website, so I chose to go for decimeter wich seems to work fine.
For a larger number of speakers one order of magnitude smaller would be better, but then the text scales a little weird.

I streamlied the whole thing a bit with the newer two overviews.

I quickly created Genelec 80x0 series...

quader(0|0|0 1.15|1.21|1.95) 8010A
text(0|0|0 "8010A")
quader(0|1.5|0 1.42|1.48|2.42) 8020D
text(0|1.5|0 "8020D")
quader(0|3.75|0 1.78|1.89|2.99) 8030C
text(0|3.75|0 "8030C")
quader(0|6|0 2.33|2.37|3.65) 8040B
text(0|6|0 "8040B")
quader(0|9|0 2.78|2.86|4.52) 8050B
text(0|9|0 "8050B")

Note: I created this code without other speakers there.

This took me a second to figure out, but it's definitely cool. Added the Barefoot FP01s...

Code:
quader(0|-12|0 3.45|2.6|3.56) Barefoot FP01
text(1|-11|0.2 "FP01")

As I said in the other tread, too bad more companies don’t utilize AR tech. Now, I don’t expect small companies to do what B&O does, having 3D models with reflectivity and whatnot, but AR scanning shouldn’t be too difficult in this day and age.

I just did a quick and dirty 3D scan of one of my towers in poor lighting (moved the model to my front door to make it more visible):

True, does anyone know which audio companies already do so, maybe a list?

I tought the "weird format" was inches lol

@3125b

Will this be only for speakers measured by @amirm and @hardisj, or will you be including others?

Since there seemed to be a fair bit of interest in this sort of visualization, I started a thread (thanks to @sweetchaos).

Looks like this:

Very cool. :)

My only issue is the speakers are aligned to the rear, not the front baffles. It creates perspectives that can make a deeper speaker look bigger than a shallow speaker when viewed in line. If you've ever seen speakers in a speaker listening room all lined up on a shelf, the baffles are always flush in line.

See how the Adam T5V looks taller when it isn't?

Sure you can rotate them, but then you can't read the models.

Well, all vaguely box-shape speakers can be added. I'm going to be busy at work this week, so I don't know if I'll be able to add a lot more for now. But the beauty of that site is that anybody can, and there is an English version of it: Geoservant 3D | Create solid Geometry in 3D - Matheretter

It creates perspectives that can make a deeper speaker look bigger than a shallow speaker when viewed in line.
Good point. You can remove the yz coordinate plane, however the labels will be the wrong way round.
Unfortunately from the way the program draws the shapes to line them up at the front would require to set a negative depth - not an issue for new visualizations, but would require some work for the ones already done.

Hello, I'm very conscious of how limited my desk space is but I'm tired of my computer speakers so this thread is of interest. I was able to get a pair of the AAM based on the BS22-LR for my living room, so I just wanted to point out that in the link comparing that speaker to the Edifier 1280T (which I'm strongly considering) shows that the AAM is smaller than the Edifier. This does not appear to be accurate based on the specifications I've located.

AAM/BS22-LR - (12.56in) ~319mm x (7.125in) ~181mm x (8.43in) ~214mm
Edifier 1280T - (9.2in) ~234mm x (5.7in) ~146mm x (7.7in) ~195mm

I could be wrong. Thanks for this!

Update:
Since that website appears to have changed and the links no longer work (at least not for me), here is an alternative: https://comparesizes.com/
Less features but easier to use. Shared links might not work with certain browser extensions though.
