Speaker setup review, suggestions, sanity check

I recently decided on the Ascilab F6B with a PB1000/SB1000 Pro sub for my small sized multi purpose room.
Core usage is 50% gaming, 20% movies and 30% music listening.

I have a weird requirement to connect 2 pairs of speakers to the same subwoofer, and these will never be used at the same time.

Here is my planned wiring:
Desk:
DX5 II

Fosi V3 (48V PSU)
├── F6B on Stands away from the wall
└── SVS high-level input

Racing sim:
SMSLc200

├── JBLLSR305 using TRS out
└── SVS LFE input using preamp out

They will never be played together. Here is the pic of my small room (3m L x 2.8m W x 3m H)
All listening will be done on the sofa.

Am I on the right track or is there a better solution to this?

That's a solid solution.

One improvement I can think of would be to replace the DX5II and C200 with a miniDSP Flex Eight.

That would enable a proper crossover between either speaker pair and the sub, and two profiles easily switchable with the remote, with each profile containing individual routing, speaker correction, and room correction configuration to make both playback systems perform at their best.

And you'd have three channels left over for stuff like bass kickers/rumble motors or a clean feed for connecting headphones (via an external headphone amp).

Cons: you'd lose the two built-in headphone outputs, and if you want to use TRS/XLR inputs on your Amp's and speakers, you'd need to use special cables to get the full noise rejection.

That was part of my thought as well - but I would lose the headphone amp from the DX5ii, which i do use from time to time.
But room correction and crossover will also be part of my future efforts, so it might be worth it to just start with the miniDSP?


I don't have the dx5ii just yet, so there is a case with going straight to the minidsp.

If you only use headphones at one of your two setups, not both, then you could put an L30II there also plugged into the Flex Eight, with even a headphone correction preset loaded into the Flex.

Or if you use headphones at both setups, then two RCA Y-splitters plugged into the Flex Eight and from there to two L30IIs one at each setup would work as well.

But room correction and crossover will also be part of my future efforts, so it might be worth it to just start with the miniDSP?
I'd say so yes.

yep i only use it at one area, and both sources are from the same PC.

For future consideration, two PCs would work just fine, too.

Either PC1 via USB and PC2 via Coax/Toslink,
or both PCs via Toslink into a Cooidea Toslink Switch and from there to the Flex.

Toslink instead of USB or Coax has the advantage that it will not transmit electrical noise from your gaming PC which are notoriously noisy to the Flex and from there to all your speakers, Amps and headphones.

So if you set everything up and encounter interference noise, consider using USB only for programming the Flex and once that's done, use Toslink to send the audio.

If your PC lacks Toslink output, then you can use a Hifime UT23, Cubilux SPDIF Converter, or SMSL PO100 2024.
