Speaker louder on trs vs bluethooth?

Hi, today, i received my pair of EDIFIER MR5. They sound great, but I expected them to be louder.
I can only use them with Bluetooth or jack to RCA, which respectively have an input sensitivity of 600 and 700.
I compared both, and i feel like jack to RCA is a bit louder.
The trs input sensitivity is 1228, so will my speakers be louder if i use TRS?

And, can i just use a jack to TRS adapter on my macbook pro (m2 generation) instead of buying a dac?

P.S: i know the sound quality degrade at higher level, but I don't care.

Sorry. A higher sensitivity number means lower sensitivity, and using the TRS inputs will result in less loud output. The meaning of the sensitivity number is the required input level that is sufficient to drive your device to its full rated output. Therefore a higher sensitivity number means requiring a higher input signal level, which mean less sensitive.

Given that, the auxiliary input (3.5 mm TRS, sensitivity 600 mV) should be the most sensitive analog input.

Dang it.

I know the « 101db » max spl written in the spec sheets doesn’t translate in real life, but I was expecting a little more than 85 db :/
 
But if you don't even get 85 dB out, you have to make sure to amplify the signal to your EDIFIER MR5 so that there is more volume. What signal are you feeding into your MR5?

Regarding Bluetooth.I personally think that with Bluetooth as a source with my XTZ Tune 4 speakers, it can sometimes be a bit poor SPL.
It is possible to play at normal listening volume but not more. If I, with the same music, want more volume, I need to plug in via the XTZ Tune 4's analog input.

The problem with Blutooth is not BT itself but the recording level. As the XTZs have no analog volume control the output of the internal DAC is the limit. With low dynamic "brick wall" recordings they do play really loud (enough) but with early digital recordings from before the loudness war maximum SPL is too low. I verified this by streaming different recordings via BT from my smartphone.

Feeding the XTZs via analogue input solves the problem as the Topping has higher output voltage than the internal DAC.

With what kind of signal at what kind of digital level (dBFS)?

If memory serves, a Macbook M2 headphone output should be good for up to 2.5 Vrms, so full blast even at -12 dBFS. Examine all volume controls in the signal path, of which there should be at least two (MR5, Macbook system volume, plus whatever is going on in the player). I will contend that sensitivity is not insanely high, but getting 90 dB SPL for -23 dBFS should be plenty workable enough.

with my iphone (apple music) but i cranked the volume on my iphone as well of course.

I used jack to rca, mr5 at max, macos sound max, apple music soud max, and i went in the parameters to deactivate volume equalizer, and activate sound corrector at max (wich, according to my google research should increase volume).

Now, it feels louder, enough to be unpleasant at 1 meter without hear protection. My DB meter app indicate between 85 and 90 DBA.

Still not 101 db, but if i want crazy volume, the best is of course to go out to raves and other events, the experience will be 100 times better.

It sounds like the reasonable step to take. Check all volume knobs, settings in the chain. Also check that for some reason in that Macbook M2 there is no volume limit set as a default setting. If TS happened to set it by mistake. However, I must say, I know nothing about Mac. Just mentioning it in passing.
Speaking of plugging in stuff and getting low volume. I had exactly the same experiences as Amir when I tested this Apple's USB-C adapter with my Android tablet:

Note that my testing is all on Windows. I attempted to test on my Samsung S8+ and got odd results. Using both Google dongles, all they did was route the not so good sound of the internal DAC through the dongle (???). With Apple dongle I got music but level was very low. So if you plan to use the Apple dongle on an Android phone, you should do some compatibility testing.
