Have been interested in these speakers , for a while
My first introduction to point source drivers were with the KEF LS 50, which I liked but found a bit lacking compared to my other bookshelves at that point
My main bookshelves now are a pair of Revel M 126 Be

Ever since getting them a couple of years back, they have dominated my stereo / sub setup
Felt like trying something new & the Mofi sourcepoint 8 kept popping up as an option

Well reviewed & regarded, decided to pick them up
Decided to go for the Classic Black
They came very well packed double boxed & in styrofoam blocks
They are physically large & heavy, compared to the Revel M 126 BE/ Focal 906 etc
Weighing 27.9 Lb each & having dimensions of 11x18x12"
Thankfully my stands were up to the task of holding them

Have been listening to them, for a week now
Tried various types of music & so far they have been versatile & pleasant
They have more body than the Revels & gels very well with my subs

A few pictures to round things up

Hope this helps compare sizes with the revel

The wood grains on the cabinet are eye catching without ostentation

Thanks for your feedback and glad you are enjoying. I’m not sure of the price, and not to downplay your purchase. I’m guessing the size of your room seems to be a factor in what speakers you choose.

The new speakers which I believe is a SP8 with two 8 inch woofers is a pretty bad ass speaker. I’m not sure if it’s been announced or on sale yet. But second time I’ve seen them and about the 6th time I’ve heard them and they live up to the Jones legacy of coaxial speakers with banging low end. I’m not sure if you considered those, or are aware, which is why I’m bringing it up. Cheers

Thank you for that 1st pic. I had no idea of the size of these speakers.
What are you using for the crossover to the sub, and at what frequency?

Jim

I have the low end covered by 3 SVS SB 2000 Pro subs
In my room, towers dont perform well
Hence the bookshelf sub combination

The Source point towers do look interesting

Jim

I have them crossed over at 80 hz 18db butterfield( will have to check)
These gives the best measured result in my room
The SP 8 goes flat to 50 hz on the response curve provided by stereophile
will try playing around with a lower crossover

You can always check with this, but fundamentally as op pointed out you would need to measure your room with your subs and your speakers to find the best co.

I’m certain if you actually cross them at 80 or even higher if that works for your room the speaker will become even more brilliant. Unsure what the distortion on the speakers look like

Butterworth ( I stand corrected) :D
Previously, I had some good results playing around with the phase of the mains
Have to try that, on this config

The subs have spoiled me, set a preset on minidsp with subs off and no filters
Missed the bass immediately & was back to my eq.ed sub preset post haste

How do they compare to the Revels?

A Music Direct catalog I received in today's mail offers the Source Point 8 for $1,999.00.
