Hello,

I have some questions that maybe you can answer:
* Why is the midrange 8" when the usual ones are between 3 and 5"?
* I see you respect the GPL nicely, which is a big plus for some, but is the network protocol open enough for tech savy users to write their own remote? In case I'm using a minimalist OS without a modern web browser, for example.
* Any reason the warranty is only 2 years on such a pricy product?

You'll find answers to your first question in these posts:

Warranty is 1 year, 3 years after product registration.

We're working on a completely new app, incorporating all the comments and requests we've received over the past year or so. It's going be a big improvement!

Hi Martijn,
When the new app comes, can we expect Roon support to be coming along with the new firmware? And is there a timeline for it?

Hi,

I need to buy an USB to AES interface in order to use a pair of D&D 8C. After some researches on the net, I hesitate between these interfaces:
- Singxer SU-6
- Singxer SU-2
- Matrix x-spdif 2
- Audiophonics XMOS U208 (sorry the link is in French... https://www.audiophonics.fr/fr/inte...2s-2x-tcxo-alimentation-230v-otg-p-10547.html)

Any helpful tip concerning these choices? Any other suggestion?

Thank you for you help!

I used a Gustard U12 for a period of time, and it was fine. I'm now using a cheap Hosa Toslink-to-AES converter. It's also fine. No sonic difference between the two.

The data going to the 8Cs is going to be reclocked when it reaches the loudspeakers because of their internal DSP, so worrying about jitter measurements of these devices is almost certainly not necessary.

Hi guys,

I landed here upon searching for "8C distortion" :D

The reason is that there was something bothering me in the +100Hz region when i cranked the 8Cs. I mix either very soft or very loud.
After doing a series of measurements, I concluded that indeed the 8C has audible (to me) distortion on the +85dBSPL range. There's a low resonant-like quality at 120Hz.

On lower levels (up to 70dBSPL), the distortion is actually very low. Compared it to Amphions and Barefoot measurments from the past.

That said, I don't consider it an actual problem. As martin said, it's the price we pay for directivity. There's no "ultimate speaker" (and we don't need one).

The ability of the 8C to be flat in less-than-ideal rooms outweighs by far the distortion levels.
