Sonos Move 2

I’ve got the Sonos move 1st generation. I think it’s a really interesting speaker and generally is really good.

The sound is pretty good and the bass extension is fantastic at lower volumes.

One thing I find very interesting is its downwards facing tweeter, which gives it very good dispersion and consistent high end at different listening angles.

To me this makes a lot of sense as a Bluetooth speaker that people generally won’t be listening to on axis, which makes the trade off to on axis listening valid to me.

I’m really interested to see if anyone has measured the Sonos move 2 as they have changed the design of it to have 2 sideways facing tweeters. This should mean better on axis response as it the sound is not moving through a waveguide which introduces varies resonances and irregularities in the sound.

But it makes me wonder if they are sacrificing vertical directivity as there is no upward facing tweeter.

There is a fantastic review of the move 1 on here but nothing on the move 2.

Would be really interested to see if anyone has one or has measured one so I can compare the two.

Thanks!

I don’t trust rtings measurements very much.

And they don’t measure anything to do with directivity unfortunately.

Thanks though.

They do measure horizontal directivity.

If you'd like, I can convert rtings' directivity data into a Klippel-style graph like I did here:
