Something different, a Soundburger

Soon i'm on the road for family visits for a few days, so i got a bunch of stuff to play with. I'll visit a few local record shops and hope to bring some cool music home.

I got this Soundburger because i like a good Burger (230€). It has a high level 3.5mm line out and Bluetooth. I didn't use Bluetooth yet, it doesn't say anything about LDAC or APT, so i guess it has neither.

An upgrade elliptical stylus. Easy to replace, highs sound a bit more pronounced compared to the default, maybe less clicks compared to the conical stylus. (20€)

A beige plastic box, thought i should have the entire kit (40€):

A cleaning kit that apparently makes people very happy. Turns out it's just a velour pillow on a piece of wood and some cleaning fluid. Didn't make me particulalrly happy but cleans well enough. (20€)

A pair of Edifier R1280T from home (used for 60€ because the remote is missing):

That is the entire story, i bought some portable stuff that i use on the road. Soon i'll have a few weeks vacation and will take the kit with me.

The similar Discwasher was extremely popular. Every hi-fi shop sold them and almost everybody had one. I'm pretty sure I still have one... somewhere. It has a directional pad-brush and special cleaning fluid (alcohol based) that was applied lightly to the brush.

They sell "similar" directional brushes for cleaning lint off of clothing. The dust/lint gets trapped in the brush and you push-backwards to clean it out. I'm not sure if it's exactly the same material.

I don't think it was for "deep cleaning" but a lot of people used it every time before playing a record.

Amazon is selling something with the same name & logo but it's a completely different design.

It works fine, pulls a good amount of visible dust from the record. So far i have wiped the velour clean on my white cotton t-shirt, no need to overthink this, all of the records i buy get a proper treatment eventually. Not sure what the cleaning fluid sprayer contains, it doesn't smell like alcohol. I bet a tiny drop of dish soap in distilled water will do, once it's gone.

I think moist velours on a foam pad is a brilliant idea to clean records. Certainly feels more effective than carbon-fiber brushes that seem to cost more or less the same.

It is an elegant design. The original ones became expensive collector's items on eBay. I'm glad AT spent the money to revive production. Vinyl sales are up. The company should do more promotion, no idea how many they can produce a month.
