Some info about Topping's incoming DX1 II

PEQ presets are stored in the remote control by long pressing the C1, C2 and C3 buttons. Then the switching works correctly.
Yes, I save a preset on device by long-pressing the button (or via the web interface), but when I turn on this preset, the corresponding equalization profile is not actually applied (although it is displayed on the screen)

TL;DR: When switching presets C1-3, the corresponding EQ profiles are applied incorrectly. To activate the correct profile, you need to activate presets C1-3 twice.

I saved profile C1 with preset EQ1, and profile C2 with preset EQ2 (whether holding the button on the remote or via the web interface makes no difference).
I intentionally created presets EQ1 and EQ2 this way, so it would be obvious which profile was applied.
When I apply profile C1 (using the remote or via the web interface, but the problem doesn't always reproduce via the web interface), the device's screen displays EQ1, but I can clearly hear that preset EQ2 has been applied.
If I open the web interface (or refresh the page if the web interface is already open), I see that preset EQ2 is actually selected.
However, if I apply profile C1 again, EQ1 is applied correctly.

The situation is similar with the C2 preset, but the EQ1 equalizer is turned on there by mistake.

UPD: To clearly demonstrate this issue, I made this short video.

I saved the presets via Topping Tune. I selected the PEQ profile in the PC, then long-pressed the selected C1-C3 button on the remote control. And confirmed by short-pressing the same button. So far it works, but the device is unpredictable. Sometimes it switches the input by itself or there is a sound dropout or a loud click. In addition, the optical input for playing CD discs does not work properly, the sound drops out every few seconds.

Visually (on the device screen and in the browser), everything works fine when switching presets. However, the expected EQ profile may not activate, which is noticeable if you're familiar with how your headphones sound with and without equalization (or if the profiles differ significantly).
If you refresh the page, you can see which EQ profile is actually active.

However, this may be a issue specific to my device.

That's exactly what we're talking about. Pressing the C1-C3 buttons causes various instabilities. For me select the correct EQ preset, but the equalizer itself doesn't turn on, and there's an occasional clicking sounds. For giraffe selelects the wrong EQ preset. For your equalizer may turn on, but it's still unstable. I listened to music all day yesterday using the input selector buttons and the equalizer button, without using the C1-C3 buttons. There were no issues at all. Therefore, at least until a new firmware version is released, it's recommended not to use the C1-C3 buttons to avoid problems.

Also, in another thread, it was discovered that the optical input does not work or works poorly with frequencies multiples of 44.1. Frequencies multiples of 48 work without problems (My TV connects at 48 kHz)

For those who were wondering what was inside, the answer is, there's nothing to see here, the markings on all the op amps have been cut off.
Good news, crystals are NDK. SPDIF IC seems to be something like CS8422 but this is just a guess by a very similar pinout, it can be other IC.
There are two regulators at the main board for the ESS, and the upper board is the main power supply, there are all other regulators + dual rail supply for op amps.
Very nice small box, it could be just good USB DAC for gaming and music without any SPDIF bugs reported here in two threads...
Forget to add, also there are 10pcs analog switches for disabling/enabling different outputs/modes.

SGM8262's on headphone out, I thought I'd see TPA6120a2.
Anything can be on the line out...

So to get the most out of the front 4.4mm we need to use optical? Annoying...

If I want something else with latest ESS, same or more output power, true balanced 4.4mm, I think I'm looking at $250+.
Would be cool if Topping just executed things better.
Khadas Tone 2 Pro, but has the older ESS chip, unfortunately. Performance is still great though.

44.1 is in the works

Topping:
"It's currently in the testing phase, and I'll keep you updated on any changes. Thank you for your patience and understanding!"

What is 44.1?
44.1khz bugs have been widely reported in this topic... for instance the Fosi Merak CD-player does not work at all connected with optical

V15.69.22.69 Firmware Release Notes

New firmware
  • Improved: OPT input compatibility, now supports a wider range of CD players
  • Improved: UAC 1.0 compatibility, now supports Switch 2, PS5, and other devices
  • New: UAC 1.0 microphone input
  • Fixed: Several other known issues.

Got it. That's 44.1 kHz on the optical input. USB has no problem with frequencies from 44.1 to 384 kHz.
Some of us have had problems with those too. It wasn't a fine release initially.

Can confirm now that Fosi Merak CD-player now works. 4 songs in, not a bug.

Where can I download the new firmware 2.69? On toppingaudio.com there is still an older version 2.54.

Use the website link I included with Chrome, Edge or Brave browser. This:

It's going to ask for some driver updates before the firmware can be updated

It looks like this was fixed in 15.69.22.69, at least I couldn't reproduce the bug during a quick check. If the bug reoccurs in future use, I'll let you know.

@TOPPING-Service @TOPPING thank you

Anyone knows why the firmware versions on the downloads section of the DX1 II are different from the ones in the Topping Home web app?

Anyway, it looks like I can't update the firmware from the web app. Will have to wait until it's available in the downloads. I'm on Sequoia btw.
