Some info about Topping's incoming DX1 II

And the file:
Cannot extract the macOS version of zip file - maybe damaged archive

So, the solution for macOS users is to download the zip archive for Windows and use the macOS firmware update tool from the previous version. Both archives should include the same firmware binary, and the only difference is in the firmware tool for the target platform. So I'll be able to update my unit with this life hack :)

2.54 has already dropped to resolve annoying pops I was still getting on 2.53! Oh a day in the life of early Topping buyers :p
But in all seriousness, this is still a cracking little device, no regrets at all.

Weird, they haven't released 2.54 yet on the firmware page

I did it via home.toppingaudio.com.
Yes that worked, after installing the Topping drivers

Can also download now

I guess I'll keep some copies lying around

In my view anyone concerned should wait a bit more. From the experience with DX5 II Topping seems to have improved their firmware updates, they are far more numerous than say 2 years ago.
I don't think that having more updates per week is necessarily a good thing.
Judging form the DX5 II, where the choice of a specific cross feed option would trigger a factory reset after power cycling, Topping's firmware code seems to be so tangled and convoluted, that it might be not such a great idea to do hasty changes on a daily basis without much testing.
And my very singular experience with firmware V2.50, which introduced some knob function options and created a bug in the core performance of audio output, points exactly in the same direction.

Maybe this is a placebo or something but I feel like the sound quality has gotten better after the V2.54 update.

NTTY review coming, yay! :)
Who will be first, Amir or NTTY?

Anyway, just like the SMSL PL150 CD-player I can already recommend this

Edit: For European buyers Audiophonics also sell it but it's currently sold out

I was about to order the dx5ii but now seeing this I wonder if the dx1ii is all I need. I am not going to go into the "which one sounds better", I assume they both measure great. I am more interested in usability of the PEQ and stuff like that. Has anyone tried these two?

DX5-II has over 6x the power output, a colour screen, coax and Bluetooth input, and 12v trigger. I think if you don't need any of that functionality then the DX1-II looks like a winner. I think Topping has done enough to differentiate them and has two great products at amazing price points.
