Does anyone know—or has anyone already tried—whether it is possible to use a microphone via the 3.5mm jack and headphones via the 4.4mm jack simultaneously?
Funnily, I could not get the microphone of my old Apple earphones to work at all. It works fine with old phone and Macbook.Does anyone know—or has anyone already tried—whether it is possible to use a microphone via the 3.5mm jack and headphones via the 4.4mm jack simultaneously?
What firmware version are you using? The crackling noise has started today for me too!![]()
15.50.22.50 (2.50) I updated using the web UI https://home.toppingaudio.com/What firmware version are you using?
2.46 works fine for me.15.50.22.50 (2.50) I updated using the web UI https://home.toppingaudio.com/
It was working fine to begin with. Then I walked away for a short while. Came back and wondered what this weird noise was I could hear, bearing in mind my headphones were on the table!
I've just downgraded to 15.46.22.46 (2.46).
You can enable EQ for optical.
Yes of course, but you can't configure it via TOSLINK.
I just updated. Listening now. No pops but it hasn't been long.15.50.22.50 (2.50) I updated using the web UI https://home.toppingaudio.com/

You can turn it off on the web. The program on windows is a bit jank. I think there is a new version. I will give it a go.I gotta say the PEQ software is not great. I tried both the desktop ToppingTune app and the web app (only for Chrome).
Tons of weird UX things and bugs. Eg: In the web app when I edit an EQ band for some reason the Gain setting is disabled and I have to enable it again.
Is there even a button to disable all EQ in ToppingTune? Couldn't find it.
Changing the EQ could be a a lot smoother too. It's very laggy and there are annoying audio glitches.
Given the volume control is digital it would be great if there was an option to auto compensate. What I mean is if the EQ setting has a gain of -3db they could increase the amp gain by 3db.
Hey Topping, if you're reading, why not make the web app open source?
In my view anyone concerned should wait a bit more. From the experience with DX5 II Topping seems to have improved their firmware updates, they are far more numerous than say 2 years ago.Should people considering this device be concerned by the fact that they only “optimized” crackling on analog output when switching sample rates on Mac instead of fixing it?
Topping Home seems to rely on WebHID to communicate with the DX1 II:Used chrome to connect to the unit, Firefox does not work.
Since it uses the same DAC chip as the DX5 II, I naively expected the DX1 II to be more stable than the reports seem to suggest. On the positive side, though, at least they are responding to reports and rolling out fixes. In my view anyone concerned should wait a bit more. There are obviously many differences otherwise...DX5 II probably won't get website support. For DX1 II I'm not so concerned, it still has topping tune as wellSince it uses the same DAC chip as the DX5 II, I naively expected the DX1 II to be more stable than the reports seem to suggest. You still have Topping Tune then.Topping Home sounds great in theory, especially for cross platform compatibility but I'm somewhat concerned as to what might happen years down the track if WebHID becomes no longer supported by any browser or substantially changes to the point that Topping no longer supports Topping Home.

E50 II seems to be different as well, so far the only one with Android and Apple app-support.
They can create a downloadable app based on Electron, for example. It will not depend on the browser. It will take about half day to convert web base app with Claude Code I thinkTopping Home seems to rely on WebHID to communicate with the DX1 II:

However, WebHID is an experimental tech only available in Chrome, Edge and Opera:

It would be great if there was an official statement as to the support strategy. I'm thinking now a thick client is better for long term stability, preferably developed using a cross platform framework. Once you've downloaded a working copy, you can use it for the life of the hardware, regardless of whether Topping supports it anymore, assuming there are no bugs that were never fixed.
