Hi Folks,

I've been a long time reader of this forum and thought that I'd finally make an account and see if I can get some advice about something I am putting together.

I currently have just a logitech Z906 sytem with a creative X3 DAC that is plugged into my computer and am wanting to step it up a little more to something a little higher up.

Below are the items that I am looking at purchasing;

- miniDSP Flex - TRS Balanced version
- Adam Audio A4V Studio Monitors (4inch ones)
- KRK S10.4 Studio Subwoofer x 2 (I would like to have a left and right channel sub)
- WorldsBestCables TRS to XLR Balanced x 4 (or a Mogami equivalent but in my research the WorldsBestCables (WBW - https://worldsbestcables.com/) are extremely close \ almost identical)

This will be getting a signal \ input from my computer via USB.

My questions are;

1. Will all this work correctly from that DAC?
2. From what I have been reading, from within the software for the miniDSP Flex, you can setup each of the 4 output ports with high and low cross overs within profiles for each and have them left and right channels etc. is this correct?
3. Can I have 1 active sub and 1 active monitor on the left and the same on right?
4. How good are the cross overs in the miniDSP Flex? Will I be able to set this all up correctly for proper hz range separation?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks,
Brett

From a cursory glance, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Why the A4Vs instead of, say, KH80s? The difference wouldn't seem to be more than about $100, not that much compared to how much you'll be spending in total. Mind you, the ADAMs still are decent speakers, they just have more warts to contend with (port resonance issues, a slightly lumpier response and less even dispersion in the vertical in particular).

Oh yeah, and don't forget budgeting for some desk stands either way.

Ok cool, I didn't know about those speakers, I'll have a look into them,

Yeah I was going to get some desk stands for them too, any suggestions for stands?

It will work fine. The mini DSP has very flexible crossover capabilities.

If you want to integrate the subs properly (and then implement room EQ) you will also need to budget for a UMik 1 - around $100.

For Minidsp's description of how to integrate two subs, see:
