I'm trying to create a solution where I can automatically switch the audio signal that goes to my external poweramp + subs based on whether I switch on my AVR or my Media Streamer box.
I had built a DIY Audio Switching box a few years back that worked great for switching a simple stereo audio signal between my media streamer box and my AVR. It uses a 12V trigger to do so.
I have since added a couple subwoofers to my setup and haven't used my media streamer box since, as my audio switching circuit doesn't allow for that, and my AVR is just better equipped to drive both subs and speakers and have it integrated with RoomEQ.
However, I still want to be able to use my media streaming box again. So just trying to brainstorm here what I would need to have to have similar RoomEQ functionality (my media streamer box runs Volumio, and I can run convolution filters on that for RoomEQ, but it gets complicated with driving 2 subs in addition to 2 speakers) and drive both subs and speakers.
Would I need to insert like a miniDSP that's solely driven by my streaming box, and then create a new audio switching circuit that will switch both the speaker and sub signals? Is that all I'd need? And then run RoomEQ off of the miniDSP? Would there be a cheaper way to do this other than buying a miniDSP?
