Help!

Girlfriend's father has some analog gear from the 70s; I helped him source some nicely-reviewed Wharfedales (thanks, ASR!) and a new Nagaoka cartridge for his turntable.

He explained to me, acknowledging my own reservations, that he would like to be able to stream the turntable signal to an portable/outdoor speaker (they often entertain outside).

What kind of solutions am I looking at here? I think it's something like this A2D2 streamer (https://a2d2.net/), but am completely at a loss for how it would be hooked up to the receiver, which does have tape rec/out functions (IIRC).

Am I on the right track? If so, any alternative products?

Thanks so much in advance!

I'd check out the Pro-Ject Phono Box E BT 5, a phono preamp with Bluetooth transmitter:

As long as your outdoor speaker accepts a Bluetooth signal, you should be good to go with just that one purchase.

Insert the phono preamp between your turntable and amplification. Once you pair the Phono Box, it should remember and then pair automatically.

The obvious problem here is that he's going to be inside operating the turntable not with his guests outside. Why not rip the records to disk and publish them with DLNA or something to the portable speaker?

Insert the phono preamp between your turntable and amplification.

I see a Line Out -- this is Line Out to a line level input, so I could use a 3.5 to RCA on Aux or Tape or Tuner, yeah?

EDIT: Doy! The signal would be going to the BT speaker. But I also see that the 3.5mm and BT can be used simultaneously? I think he'd probably like that actually...

This, along with the signal transformation, has all been explained to him! I think he likes the idea of it more than anything. He's helped me build stands for my NS1000Ms, and will help me build a freestanding kitchen cabinet, so I'd like to do something to return the favor.

He can listen to the turntable in either location or both.

To listen outside but not inside, keep the inside amp off.

To listen to both, have both the amplifier and the outdoor speaker on.

Sorry, should have been more specific.

The phono preamp takes the place of your amp's built-in phono preamp.

Therefore your amp needs a line level input for the phono preamp.

You'd be connecting to Aux / Line In rather than Phono on your amp.

Right! Since the Phono Box has only a Line Out, looks like it would need 3.5mm-to-RCA cable. Thank you for following up!

Bluetooth transmitter from a line out on the amp?
I'm 80% confident that the receiver does not have a separable pre/main capability; I think basically what the A2D2 I linked above suggests (maybe?) is to hook it into a Tape Out and configure the receiver to playback the recording (the A2D2), but am not sure....

You should just be able to use the tape - out and something like this

A pair of WiiM Mini's will do it too (or WiiM Pro Plus if you wanted a higher quality, but honestly you are unlikely to notice). Line Out from the indoors Amp to one, connect the other to your outdoors speakers. You also get comprehensive streaming options and some EQ if you want.

I use a WiiM Pro inside at the turntable and a WiiM mini outside for this functionality. It works fine but I'll agree with others that say it's not that practical in reality. The inside / outside listening in general is great but if you're grilling or something outside, you don't really want to run around flipping the record.

Liking this WiiM solution...

What's the connection here -- Turntable -> Receiver [Phono] || WiiM Pro -> Tape-out?
In my setup: TT -> Schiit Mani 2 --> WiiM Pro --> Wifi --> [Rest of house]

I have a WiiM mini in my office, guest bedroom, living room, and on the patio, so I can listen to CD / Vinyl / Streaming in any of those places, or all at the same time. It delivers on the promise of Sonos, and then some, at a much lower cost.

So basically RCA -> WiiM gets you vinyl all around the house, however you decide to slice that. I think the receiver tape out would work fine.

Thanks. I think tape-out might be the solution, as the application might be music playing on interior passive system and to bluetooth speaker.
