I bought this based on the preamp shootout video by Pearl Acoustics. I highly recommend you watch the video as it covers all sorts of preamps of various prices and the Topping Pre90 fairs extremely well with the most expensive units he listened to. You can find it here
This unit is for sale only because I wanted to compare it to my Audio Research REF6se and I find I just prefer the sound of tubes over solid state, but I tried. That said, this is an extraordinary preamp, especially for the price. If I didn’t have the means to own a $20k preamp, I’d gladly use this and be very happy.
I bought this on USAM a few months ago and used it only to compare. I believe I am the second owner. It is in perfect condition and doesn’t have a scratch on it. I doubt this is the original power cord, but it is what I got from the original owner.
Please watch the video and read the Stereophile review if you’re not entirely sure about this preamp. These should convince you that you’re buying a very high quality sounding and looking preamp.
